Thought I would never be say any of this

Today is about 4 months into this life and health changing journey that started by chance when I came across the free Myfitnesspal (MFP) application and I never thought I would be able to say any of the below items.
- Just did my first "Indoor biatholon" - swam for 25 minutes (0.3 mi) followed by a 22 mile biking/spinning. My desire is be able to eventually do a half triathalon. The swimming is my weakest event. Also, I "ran" earlier this week for the first time in almost 30 years and actually did 30 minutes and 2.4 miles. I put "ran" in quotes because it was more walk/jog followed by more walking/jogging.
- Continue to exceed my target weight reduction of 1 lb a week. Currently it is about 1.5lb a week.
- Continue diligently track my food intake. Have learned so much about food and nutrition in the last 4 months it is amazing.
- Actually cooked my first "400 calorie" meal. This recipe came from the MFP community.
While I am amazingly pleased I am very cautious because my personality tendencies are to get very into something and then quit. So I stand by my original objective to do this for one year and see what happens.
Thank you for your time and support.

Good for you. I too get distracted away from my goals but I've got a two month streak going. This is so helpful. I really really appreciate the developers of MFP and the supportive network found here as well. For the first time in many years, I think I can do it. It is people like you that make it possible0

Hi Larry...that is awesome. I know what you mean about that type of personality trait. I am like that too. I get focused 200% on something for months on end and then can just up and quit. I think it has to do with ADHD (I was diagnosed years ago but am not medicated).
I truly hope I keep up my fitness goals. I have never really been so excited and dedicated as I have been in the last month, so I'm hoping I'll keep it up.
We can do it! Don't give up sweetie.
bye,

My hubby and I have figured out that I have an addictive personality - I get addicted to something, it lasts a few weeks and then gone. I am on week 3 of mfp. First week I lost 4 kgs (8 or so pounds), then relaxed and gained it all back last week. Major kick in the butt this morning, and am back on the wagon.
I think you have done really well to stick at it for this long, one day at a time ay)

It is good that you have learned this about yourself so now you can execute strategies to minimize and/or take advantage of this trait. Some things I am doing is not focusing on just one thing. Sometimes I will get into trying new low calorie recipes and then when that where's off I will focus on improving my exercise.0 -
Congrats to where you are now!

Glad you are working on this after all they say the first step in solving a problem is recognizing that one exists. Keep up the great work!!0
