Okay - I am beginning Cathe Friedrich's Intermediate Rotation this week and had come up with a good transition plan from Beginner Rotation. But, when I posted it to their forum - I was told that doing Pyramid weights (50m-68m) on Tu/Thurs WITH a 25 minute cardio would be too much.

Let me ask you - do you have to do cardio everyday - can you burn well with just weights? Also - I was planning on using a basic cardio for warm-up - don't you have to warm up first before weights?

A little confused here - love some help!

I'm a firm believer in warming up before weights with at least 5 minutes of any cardio. You should allow your body a day of rest from everything, but some people light to do light cardio on those days. I've found that as I age I need more recuperation time from lifting weights and cardio and therefore lift weights Mon, Tue, Th, Fr and do cardio M-f, sometimes Saturday depending on how I feel. The main thing is to listen to your body, especially towardds the end of you week. If you are feeling tired or lethargic in the gym, take the day off. Remember it took you a long time to gain weight, so relax, have fun, and enjoy the weight loss journey. Allow yourselg plenty of time to lose the weight and you will succeed!

It is always advisable to warm up before any workout, whether it be by stretching or some light cardio. You can most certainly burn calories during resistance (weight) workouts, but a little stretching/light cardio is good to get your muscles and heart warmed up to help prevent injury.

Depends on what your goals are. I only do cardio 3 days a week. And stregeth training the other 3, and then take a day off.

I think it's good that you do SOMETHING active everyday. And yes you should warm up before weights.

Thanks everyone! I did the step for 28 minutes for some cardio and warm-up; then, went into Pyramid Lower Body for 35 minutes - it went just fine. Just need to trust my instincts - thanks again!

i do cardio (about 30 minutes) on M and W, weight lifting (30 minutes) and a walk (20 minutes) on T and Th, and the p90x plyometrics (60 minutes) workout on Sat. so far so good!
