Check my diary?

I'm having a hard time keeping my intake up. It's tempting to fall back to old habits, where I'd restrict myself to ~500 cals, either intentionally, or I just wouldn't get hungry. I need someone (or 2 or 3 someones) to help make sure I'm eating enough. If you could check my diary and give suggestions, that would be great.

So far I've prelogged today, it totals <700 cals. And I don't think I can eat that much food. I'm doing okay with my macros (which I changed this morning) but I generally need more calories. Anyone wanna help me? :embarassed:

    Can't see your diary... :)
  • Your diary isn't open but I don't even have to look at it to let you know you're not doing yourself any favors by eating <700 calories.
  • I have the same problem dolly, I usually average about 800-900 calories a day because I just don't get hungry and I don't want to force myself to eat so here's what I do:

Breakfast is about 200 calories, snacks are limited to under 200 and lunch is my big meal, usually 300-400. And dinner is usually small like a bowl of fruit or cereal and if I'm really low on calories that day I make myself eat a banana with a glass of milk or some peanut butter.

I really don't feel hungry especially after the gym. If I go to the gym in the afternoon(usually after classes) I'm not hungry the rest of the day, I have to make myself eat and I hate the idea of eating when I'm not hungry.
  • If you hate the idea of eating when you're not hungry think of it as fueling your body. It's a tough adjustment but it's important for your long term health and weight loss success to actually eat all of your calories.

Your body loses weight in chunks, not linear. I have found that you can do everything right and your weight loss seems to plateau but you are patient and keep exercising and eating at a deficit (however slight) you will lose it, it will suddenly "whoosh". There are so many variables for the scale though: water retention, digestion, allergies, sodium, carbs, water intake, DOMS, inflammation, the list goes on. People mistakenly think they lose weight when they eat more because of these fluctuations.

If you have a lot of body fat reserves you would be surprised at how little you can eat (unless you have emotional eating issues or disorders). The leaner you get the less your body has to draw from and then you have to taper up your calories. There is no such thing as starvation mode for women over 12% body fat or men over 6% body fat. I am a living breathing example of that. I went from obese to now under 12% BF and I've maintained for one year and built muscle the whole time. You don't BUILD muscle in starvation mode, so I proved everyone wrong.

So did all these ladies ---> http://www.venusindex.com/transformation-contest/

If you want to learn the real truth invest in this. I gain nothing by it, but I am passionate about other people finding the same success I did and learning all the myths floating about in the diet industry that is designed to keep getting your money over and over. --- > http://www.anythinggoesdiet.com/no-diet-rules-allowed.php (This is NOT about eating junk food!)

Oh yeah and you can do this WITHOUT a personal trainer or coaching. Read the book, it explains the answers, done. Then just do it. Of course the superior designed workout helps as well.

    Sorry, it's open now

I'm not hungry, so I don't want to eat. I know I should eat more, but I feel so sick if I make myself eat any more.
  • I have your opposite problem, I have watch my intake so I don't go over. But after looking at your diary there are a few things I would suggest. The first is breakfast. I am strong believer in not skipping breakfast. So coffee and a vitamin isn't quite enough. I would at least throw in a banana, that will add about 100 calories to your day. The next would be to substitute real eggs for your egg beaters. In this instance you are not eating any more than normal, your just adding calories. The increase of cholesterol won't/ shouldn't effect anything as it's primarily HDL (the good cholesterol). Between these two things alone you should be able to add between 200-300 calories to your day. You could even consider adding a Kind bar an extra snack, they are tasty, low on carbs, and gluten free. Just some suggestions.

This is the first time I've had egg beaters... they were on sale yesterday :blushing:

It's really not that hard to hit 1200 calories.... Eat more calorie dense foods.... nuts, full fat stuff (not all fats are bad, folks), avocado, peanut/almond butter.... oh yea, and eat breakfast. Coffee is not breakfast.

I looked at your diary.. feel free to look at mine. I have the exact opposite problem. I love to nom nom nom.

If you don't like to eat, how did you gain weight? Find the middle ground between what you were doing and what you are doing now.

I gained the weight because I was depressed. I was able to eat ice cream, doritos, entire cans of frosting, 2-3 cans soda a day, and everything else. I was unstoppable. My clothes stopped fitting, I freaked out, and gained more weight. And living with an obese grandmother, I grew up thinking it was normal to eat because of emotions. I thought you were supposed to eat food until the container was empty, whether it was a gallon of ice cream or a family size bag of chips or a whole pizza. Now I know how to eat, but I get freaked out by food.

Right now my focus is eating at least 1200 cals every day, and not binging (I'm 34 days binge-free)

I am a life long binger. So I get where you are coming from. Good for you to not let it take hold on your life. Food isn't scary. And you can eat a good amount of healthy stuff.
  • It's hard to eat 1200 when you're currently(and always will be) recovering from an eating disorder. That's why it's hard for me. I have to control so much of what I do especially eating. Before, it was a lack of control. I was on the verge of binge eating disorder(not the same as bulimia) and now I have to be in control of the calories so I don't gain more weight so it's similar to anorexia although I do eat I just restrict myself from eating too much and allowing myself to binge on a box of oreos or a whole gallon of ice cream.

Mine is just hardest to eat after exercise. Like I just got back from a 4+ mile walk and I wasn't hungry but I made myself eat turkey for the protein for my muscles and it's the hardest thing in the world for me to do, but I did it.
