So I trained my first client today...

And it was freaking awesome!
Since starting to lose weight and changing my lifestyle I have decided to go on a quest of owning my own "Health Centre" - mixture of a Gym with Nutritionists.
I finished my Cert 3 last semester and started my Cert 4, 7 weeks ago. With this course, we get 4 clients (plus a year 7 P.E. class) which we get to train over the course of a 12 week period. Today I trained my first client and she actually told my teacher that I am the best Personal Trainer she has ever had and am so compassionate!
And here I was, almost having an anxiety attack 5 minutes before training her, because "what if I'm a bad Personal Trainer?!"
Well I just kicked that theory in the butt.
You can do anything which you have set your mind to. Your dreams are within your reach if you are willing to work for them.

Congrats! I used to try to help my friends with their workouts but I always killed them. I help my husband now and give him guidelines but he won't let me push him0

Nicely done!!0

Excellent, the first one is always the most nerve wracking!
Just be careful of some of the stuff you learn in your courses, the information isnt always up to date, an example from my course material is the body can only digest 30g of protein at once, complete nonsense
Question everything!0 -
YAAY! What a beautiful compliment!0

Haha yeah, I know!
My Nutrition teacher in the course tried to tell me 15% protein is the most you should be having per day.
And that full fat stuff is worse for you than skim, it has more calories sure but less processed crap.
I've actually been doing my own research for the past 18 months of textbooks, etc so I knew when to argue back0 -
It also has more good fats in it too!
What level 4 cert are you doing?0 -

^ Exactly!
I'm just doing a Cert 4 in Fitness at the moment, but it's a bit different in Australia.
We do have the 8-12 week course but I decided against it.
A) it has the worst rep, how can you learn enough in 12 weeks?!
we get to train our own clients whilst completing the cert 4 in the school gym so we actually know what to do in the real world
C) it's about half the price.
Planning on doing the Diploma in Fitness next year part time and hopefully get into Uni part time for Nutrition.0 -

The course I did was supposed to be completed in 12 weeks with a maximum limit of 6 months, its kinda poor, gives way to so many bad PT's. I trained with one who did the same course as me, I had to tell him off several times for molesting my barbell while trying to spot me!
I am going to study at university though, though I'm still deciding between physiotherapy and physics ha!
It's cool that they make you do proper case studies too, I was allowed to 'make mine up' I already had several clients I could use as a case study though.
Is nutrition your favourite area of fitness then?0 -

Yes and no.
I find so much of it interesting.
I LOVE the nutrition side of it but
I also love the Psychology side of it.
And I love being able to help others achieve their goals0
