Diet and exercise, with the key being the diet0

Nope. Even it's own advertising blurb doesn't promise that.
But... it will make your wallet lighter and your home more cluttered! Very handy clothes rack too.0 -
Not likely. Crunches, cycles, planks and stomach vacuums would be far more effective, and they cost nothing and require absolutely NO equipment. I don't bother, or frankly trust, any machine designed to work abs (or biceps, for that matter. Biceps are so easy to work, a monkey could do it). Such machines are needlessly complicated. Look up ab exercises on www.bodybuilding.com or on YouTube, to learn how to perform them with proper form.0

In all seriousness, this machine will help a little if it forces you to get off your butt and exercise. This will not, however, be any more effective than going for a jog or spending some time at the gym getting a decent whole body workout.
If you are confined to home and cost is an issue, I'd be much more inclined to get some decent workout videos and some dumbbells/bands. That way you will have a structured workout, get in some resistance training and work out your whole body.
Above all though, don't forget it is the total energy equation that is important here, that is make sure to track your food, and consume less energy than you burn each day. That 'toned' look you are searching for will be revealed once you have lost a good amount of the overlaying fat tissue.0 -
exercise will, machines will not
Remember its 80% diet and 20% exercise0 -
To be honest, no it will not. You just need to watch your diet and exercise. If you do not have access to a gym would suggest walking/running to get some cardio in and doing some strength training. Assuming you do not have access to a gym, you can do push-ups, dips, squats, lunges. If you have dumbells, you can add overhead press, deadlifts, bench press (can be done on floor or stability ball if you do not have a bench). A pull up bar is a good investment as you can do chin-ups, pull ups and hanging leg raises. If you cannot do a chin/pull up (they are hard, especially for women), you can do negatives - start at the top and let yourself down as slowly as possible. There are also a bunch of workout routines available.
In short, you would be better investing in a stability ball, some dumbells and a pull up bar.0 -
Nordic walking is a good exercise, you can do it outside or inside with a machine. Buy a machine ONLY if you have the habit of using it already - the biggest guilt trap you can build is buy, not use, regret, not feel good about exercise, guilt.
Why not just walk? Get some sticks if you walk a lot.
ETA: for abs - crunches of all sorts, leg pulls, planks.0 -
Thank you, surely it must do something or at least burn calories!0

It WILL burn calories which is a good thing but it won't tone your abs...planks are a brilliant exercise for abs and no equipment is required0 -
Well, if you feel you will use it, buy it. It will burn the fat meaning you'll see what ever muscle you have underneath the fat. But as others have said, your diet is more important.0

"Toning" is just losing body fat so that you see a bit of muscle definition. A calorie deficit will do that. Exercise will help, but you could go for a walk or run without having to pay 7 payments of 39.95.0

The only way to tone any muscle on your body is to get rid of the fat that is hiding that muscle.0

Sure, it will burn calories, if you use it but that was not your question.
Nordic style machines can be great - I personally would not spend my money on a machine I had not seen and tested - been there, found them next to useless when they are too light or flimsy. I'd rather spend 100 yoyos on a gym membership for 6 months here or bike parts.
If working on your abs is what you want, you already have what you need.0 -

Yes it will burn calories, and if it increases your heart rate it will give a cardio workout but it won't tone your abs
ETA: I wouldn't buy it from Jacamo though, you're paying over the odds buying exercise equipment from a clothing catalogue, especially if you're paying for it on an account :flowerforyou:0 -

Course it will... it will burn a hole in your wallet.
LIke I told you yesterday, in order to "tone" you need to lift weights.
Cardio doesn't give you muscle tone.. weights give you muscle tone.0 -
Diet is what will get you your visible abdominal muscles. If they are not as defined as you would like, even when hidden by fat, you will need to combine some resistance training. You then need to trim fat - this means eating less calories than you are burning for the day. A machine like this might allow you to eat 400 calories or so more each day while still accomplishing this goal. Your fat will burn off where it chooses, and you will have your results when you hit a certain body fat percentage. This is mostly defined by genetics.
I go through a cycle of building muscle - heavy lifting and targeted core exercises - while eating at a caloric excess. After that, I keep my training routine basically the same but lower my calories. This is when the ab muscles come out of hiding.0 -
Thanks x0

I am pretty sure I just laughed in the exact same manner that he probably is in this picture.0 -
Abs are made in the kitchen, not the gym. The only way to remove fat from your abs is through diet.
You can get some dvds that tone abs at home.0 -
When shopping for fitness equipment, stay away from basically anything on TV other than commercials for your local gyms.0

Sure it will burn some calories. But you could probably burn more calories more efficiently doing any number of better excercises that don't cost as much money and won't waste space in your house.0
