PLEASE help me choose from menu!

I'm going for a meal tomorrow with the family for my brothers 21st! Thing is, I've already had my 'cheat' day this week, and I'm doing my best to shape up before college starts back...what should I do? I've linked the menu, I'd love if somebody could take the time to glance over it and recommend what they think would be the lowest calorie options...keep in mind that I don't eat meat, just fish  I'll also probably skip dessert as the dessert menu (separate) is so decadent!

Any suggestions on what I should do (eat half a meal, ask for a certain meal without something etc...) are welcome & will be greatly appreciated.

The Thai Green Chicken Curry looks pretty healthy and you could get a side salad with dressing on the side. Enjoy!

Probably the seabass but seriously it's your brothers birthday and a family gathering.

Just eat whatever you want and enjoy yourself this one meal has no real significance over the long term.
  • Can't you do an extra exercise to be able to eat a little more? :frown:

The Warm Goat Cheese Salad with the pine nuts on the side so you can control the portion ( 1 oz. = 58 calories)? Skip the bread?
  • Hi
I think that these may be an option :-
    Light Bites
    Crab Cakes €7.50
Indonesian crab cakes with baby leaf salad and a chilli & lime salsa. You could ask if they would oven bake the Crab cakes for you instead of frying them.

    Or

    Light Bites
    Prawns Pils Pils €9.95
Large succulent tiger prawns cooked with fresh garlic and baby red chillies, served with crusty bread. They may change the crusty bread for a baby leaf salad if you ask them nicely.

    Or

    Hot Dishes
    Pan Fried Organic Salmon €12.50
Organic salmon served on a bed of crunchy green beans and spicy chorizo sausage, served with a chive and basil salsa. Again see if they will do the Salmon in the oven & leave out the spicy chorizo sausage.

If you can take a 90 minute walk (Walking, 2.5 mph, leisurely pace) would burn 572 calories, or do 2 hours worth of housework (Cleaning, light, moderate effort) would burn 635 calories. if you could do any of these before you went that would give you some more calories to may be have a glass of wine or something to toast his Birthday.

I hope all goes well & have a good time.

    this^^^^^^^
  • Go with the curry, OR.....

Split an appetizer with someone else, if it's a must-have for you, and then box half your meal at the start, take it home, and enjoy it later. If you have the self-control, you can box it when you've eaten half, but that doesn't work for some people.

I actually find parties like that are much easier to eat lightly at, as I can distract myself with conversation from the meal.
  • Hi AlexandraLync, Yellerie & kimiel51

The curry is out, as she states she does not eat Meat.

If you are so worried about it, which I wouldn't be, just order a chicken breast prepared how you please ( grilled or stock velvet ) and some steamed veggies.... Ta da.. Restaurants will cater to your liking, because they like your money.

I didnt look at the menu (go with a fish dish with steamed veggies) -- But its your bro's bday. I think its OK if you order something you really want and enjoy yourself - it is a celebration afterall.

Have them bring you a to-go container at the start of your meal and box some of it right at the start so you dont eat the whole thing in one sitting. And split dessert with someone. And most of all - have fun celebrating with your family!

I'd go with the sea bass too, not many choices without meat. Or the Caesar salad, no bacon.

Plan your entire day in advance in your food diary, and see what fits best with your plan. If you need to spend most of the day fasting, then plan for that, too. The restaurant may not give you exact counts, but you can kind of guess at it based on what is already in the database.

Make sure to write down what you want to order, and take your note with you (maybe save as a note on your phone) so that you don't forget. No one will be the wiser that you are dieting.
