What should I do?

A little background info. I am 5'2" and currently weigh 150.2lbs with a goal of 135lbs. I had my 2nd child 6 months ago and she is pretty much exclusively breastfeeding (she only takes a few bites of solids here and there). I have lost 20.6 lbs since July 12 by limiting myself to 2000 calories and trying to stay within my nutritional goals (fat, sodium, etc). I just started the 30 Day Shred and am on day 7.

So now for my issue. I feel like I'm stuck. I've lost 1lb in the past week, where before I was losing 2-4lbs. I'm eating better and have dropped my calories to around 1850 a day (1219 net calories). I am doing the shred and occasionally getting out to walk when it isn't too hot.

Do I just need to stick with it and eventually I'll lose more weight?

Am I just at a point where I'll probably lose weight slower (if you think this is the case, would you recommend only weighing once a week vs every day?)?

Do you think I cut my calories too much? I was eating 2000 cals (1500 net) before.

Do you think I've cut my calories too much?

Should I just be happy that I'm still losing weight and just shut it? ;)

Thanks in advance for your input.

I'm 5'2 as well at 148 with a similar goal. I just started the 30DS and take several (3-5) Zumba classes a week with regular walks. My calorie intake is set for 1200 and I only eat back a small portion of my work calories. I've been plateauing on and off too (just pushed through my latest one) but it sounds like your plan has been working for you. I do think that we are starting to lose weight slower than before now that we're edging into the bottom portion of the overweight index and it's just going to take more to keep up. I would try adding something else in with the 30DS and see where that gets you. If you're still not losing like you want I'd take a look at your calories. Good luck!!!
  • You still have to keep carbs at a minimum as well as sugars at 0 and you would be shocked how fast that 1 lb turns into a loss of 3-4lbs...

how do I eat fruit and keep sugars at 0? You mean sugars other than natural sugars?

    You can't. He's talking about a literally no-carb diet. I wouldn't recommend that.

Yes, if you only have 15 pounds to go it's time to reset your goals to a pound per week or a half pound per week.

One lb a week is still a loss! Your body will adjust and readjust, so try not to get discouraged. Some weeks you'll lose big and others, not at all. If this keeps up for three weeks, look at switching up the calories. You are going to love the 30 DS- I lost six inches and six lbs doing it.

Also, are you tracking your measurements?

Ah ok. Thanks for clarifying. Yeah, no carbs + breastfeeding doesn't seem like a good mix. My goal is to lose the weight as quickly as possible, but being able to provide adequate and nutritionally balanced milk for my daughter supersedes that goal---darn kids always coming before us. LOL

So it looks like 1lb a week may be my new normal. I will add in some more exercise, but I'll try not to be bummed if I don't lose weight as fast as I'm accustomed to.

Just me waist measurement. I've lost 5 inches so far :) Maybe I should start measuring everything so I can see some results even if I don't see them on the scale.

Only because you lose water weight. Water is not fat, it's actually lean mass. Most people don't like losing lean mass.

Uh yeah. For the record, I am not breastfeeding, keeping my calories within the recommended range for my height, weight and activity level, lifting heavy and playing competitive sports and I am darn *thrilled* when I lose anywhere near a lb in a week!

I love it when water turns into things... I drew a bath last night and started to step in, only to find that my tub was now full of lean mass. It was kinda ...gross.
