lol duct tape!
I used to get these, I would dig them out with sharp things and tweezers. That's probably not good advice. I think there is something to freeze them off, ask the pharmacist?0 -
I had a real painful one and nothing OTC worked - even duct tape. I had to go to a podiatrist and get them to shave it down first, then try the OTC stuff again. It worked after that.
Depending on how bad it is, you may not have a choice. Try the OTC stuff, try duct tape, but if you don't see improvement, it might be so deep that the medicine isn't actually getting down to the root and a doctor may have to shave it or remove it. Ask about shaving it down first b/c I hear that the removal is painful and takes awhile to heal.
Good luck!0 -
Yep, freeze em.0

My Dr. actually says duct tape!0

There are these little band-aid things at the pharmacy you put on them that make go away after a few weeks! I think it was Dr Schol's brand, not too sure.0
-
I had a bad, BAD case of them from the pool this summer and I am proud to report that they are all gone! I used a straight razor to (very, very carefully) shave the tops off. I then applied OTC salicylic acid and covered them with the wart cushions you can get at the pharmacy and duct tape. It took a long time, but they're gone! Good luck!0

freeze them0

my podiatrist would freeze them. There is some plantar wart freezing medicine from Dr Scholls I think it is.0

duct tape really works. my kid had a few and that is what the dermatologist did
get an emery board and rough up the top of the wart just a little - put a square of duct tape over it and if you want or if it will help keep the duct tape on, put a bandaid over it. keep the duct tape on 24/7 and slowly the wart will go away. Its a little bit of a process but it doesn't hurt, totally non invasive, no cuts, no scar, super cheap. One dr said the only real purpose of the bandaid over the duct tape is to keep people from asking why you have duct tape on you. lol
it works.0 -
Wart stick (available at Harris Teeter) then duct tape it.0

duct tape, and or hand sanitizer when ever you think about it0

I had one at the bottom of my foot that was painful! The wart kind of has a callus type covering to it, what I did was take nail clippers and gently try and remove the top layer. If it hurts, stop. I then bought OTC plantar wart remover. Not the liquid, the circle bandage type. It took a little while but it did go away and it hasn't came back.0

Struggling with this now as well. You should take this very seriously. I started with one (from the gym floor I think) and it turned into five over the last four months. 1. Wear flip flops everywhere in your house (or socks), 2. Don't re-wear any socks and if you go to the gym at lunch, keep up with which sock is on each foot and put back on the same feet, 3. Use a mixture of bleach and water to clean your shower and sandals maybe once or twice weekly, 4. Try to use a shower no one else uses, 5. Get duct tape, tweezers, salycillic acid, and maybe a knife. Seems drastic, but you have to go to war on these things, making your body as inhospitable a place as possible. Don't cut them out, you may scar and cause more to show up for the rest of your life in that location (kind of like pimples tend to do). Just pare the wart gently with a knife, use a lot of benzoyl peroxide on your feet and alcohol on your instrument (and hand sanitizer). Apply salycillic acid to the wart only and then cover with duct tape. I like to put socks on over the duct tape, cause it helps keep it on (it doesn't like to stick sometimes). Over time, the wart should fall off due to the lack of oxygen, the acid, and the irritation of the adhesive in the tape. Preventing this from spreading is huge, as this is very contagious. I've definitely become a germaphobe because of this and wear socks or flip flops everywhere.0

Get a doctor to use liquid nitrogen on the wart. I don't even bother with the other tricks since liquid nitrogen will always kill it. The wart will bubble up, peel off and leave a scab but it will always be gone.0

Duct tape is NOT a joke. It actually works. It triggers an immune response and causes your body to kill the virus that causes the wart. Leave it on for 6 days, and take it off for one day. It may take a couple of months, but it works. My daughter had one and we tried this--it WORKS, and it's cheap and painless.0

duct tape? no way!0
-
different from regular warts. I used pumice daily to shave them down. I hear removal is painful more so than the plantar wart0
-
I had one for a long time, I treated it for over a month or two with Compound W liquid. But I did find that if I consistantly shaved it down with a mild pumice I didn't have any pain at all, even though the wart was still there. I was able to make it through super long standing shifts and work, and even 3 mile walks to work without even feeling it.0

I actually had multiple plantar's warts on both my feet. There was so many, it was awful. I've recently started soaking them in apple cider vinegar, soap and warm water for 10 minutes a day. They got better real fast and now I only soak every other day and they're almost completely gone.0

I had one right in the middle of my heel for a number of years and nothing from the pharmacy worked. Earlier this year I went to the podiatrist who first scraped it back and then used liquid nitrogen on it. But you need a podiatrist who will make you suffer a little bit to make sure it gets all the way down into it. Sure it hurts for a day or two but then it's fine. I was told I might need to go back after a couple of weeks to get another treatment but luckily with the stuff at home and using sandpaper to get rid off all the dead skin it went away. Best thing I ever did!!0

Had one when I was 15...this is what I did...
Every day after school I sat on my bed with an exacto knife and tweezers cutting and yanking chunks out of it. Ice cubes help with the pain. They are made up of clusters of little tubes, like fibers in celery so sometimes when you grab one and pull, it takes a chunk out about half an inch deep into your foot.
Dump peroxide over it, bandage and try again tomorrow....
After about 2 weeks of hacking at it, it just looked like a bloody hole with nothing abnormal in it. I covered it in peroxide, closed it with steri-strips, and waited.
2 weeks later...not even a scar....can't even tell now where it was...
yeah, I was hardcore..lol
we were poor and I didn't want to tell my mom because she would have insisted we go to the doctor and I didn't want to make her pay for it...0 -
duct tape works very well! Freezing them off can take quite a few treatments and be quite painful. Duct tape takes a while but it doesn't hurt! They are a virus, so they will eventually go away0
-
I got ELEVEN of them during my first year at University and I used Dr. Scholl's Plantar Wart removal adhesive bandages. They cost about $5 for a pack and because I went through them so quickly, I ended up buying I think three of them total?
Anyway, they're great!
In the end I had to get the bad ones frozen off by the Dr., but they said that I had done exactly as they would hope I would've.
If it hasn't been bothering you for long, the OTC stuff should work just fine.
Also, always wear socks!! Even after you get rid of them, you can transfer the virus.0 -
I had mine frozen off at the doctor's office. Dr Scholls and duct tape didn't work. Duct tape may work for smaller ones because it's anti-fungal. And get em while they're small or else they spread and really dig in.
One thing the doc said was, make sure you wear cotton socks, and don't just bleach them-- boil them. Only thing I could find was cotton/poly white workout socks. I got a ton and boiled them on the propane stove out back. That kept cross-contamination and re-infection down. Meanwhile it took 3 freezings to get the damn things off. (F*cking yoga studio...)0 -
My Dr. told me the duct tape one and miraculously, it worked!0
-
thanks everyone
i had it about a month and ut is really painful now
i;m going to try the duct tape and hope i works, it is really effecting my ability to work out0 -
Most derms wont burn them off because they say they will come back worse. They have a cream they can prescribe but it expensive. You can see if you can get a sample, put it on, follow it with duct tape and just repeat till it's gone. They take a while. I just got rid of 3 with the wart stick/duct tape method. Working on the last two - I had a lot! and they hurt too!0

Trying to re-hash this topic. I have a very painful one on the outside bottom of my foot and is extremely painful. I am not so much looking for remedies because there are plenty on here. My issue is I am having difficulty just getting exercise period because of the pain. Any ideas of home exercises that can be done without the use of a foot (other than push ups and situps )? Any help would be appreciated b/c I am really trying to keep my momentum going until this thing is gone.0
