Since I've been talking about "skinny fat" and "lean mass" etc, and well, I'm apparently a HUGE attention *kitten*, I will share a few pictures...

Before I had children I spent most of my life around 165lbs. I gained 25lbs during each of my first 2 pregnancies, returning to 165 between them. After my 2nd I did Weight Watchers online and got down to 145lbs basically with diet alone, did very little exercise.

Summer 2009, 145lbs:

I then got pregnant again. Gained 45lbs (so yeah, gained the extra 20lbs I had lost, thanks kid). This time I lost weight more slowly and have been lifting weights for 8 months including a 4 month bulking cycle. Never got back down to 145. I got down to 150 then went back up to 160 during the bulk.

Summer 2012, 160lbs:

I can wear most of my clothing from 2009 with the exception of a few pairs of shorts that are too tight (and too tight shorts are just wrong).

Great work! How tall are you? (Gives folks like me some perspective on the weight differences)

That's my 2nd baby's lovey. She was a devil baby and that really helped with her sleeping and stuff. We didn't do one with the first one. She still sleeps with that thing and she's 4.

Thank you very much. After reading posts like yours and Lorinalynn's, I'm beginning to re-evaluate my intense desire to lose the 15-ish lbs I've gained over the last year. While I can't fit into my size 4 BCBG jeans that I love so much; I'm actually slimming down rather nicely with a steady regimen of strength training (4 days a week) and cardio (3-4 days per week). My weight loss has been uber-slow and even fluctuated up and down, but I am finding that my body is changing and becoming much more beautiful than it's ever been.

I find it inspirational that ladies like you and a few others that I've befriended here are showing that the scale is not the ultimate way to measure fitness!

Thank you; you look great!! :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou:

Pictures are the only way for me to track progress these days. Any time I get excited about the scale going down it ends up going back up again anyway. *kitten*.
