Lost 8 pounds...but feel the same : /

So I lost another pound! YAY BUTTT I don't look or feel any different at all. My clothes still fit the same, their not getting any looser. I dont get it..technically when I weighed myself the 1st time I weighed 133..but that is the most I EVER weighed and I think it had something to do with it being TOM. So I'll just say that I lost 5 pounds because those extra 3 I don't think were normally there. But still. I dont feel any different. Should I or is this normal?

    I've lost 10 babe and am exactly the same. I don't see or feel it. A few people on here have said that it's not really until about 14lbs down that you start to feel it though, and one has even told me it wasn't until 20lbs down! I guess it depends how much you have to lose in the first place. What I will say I have heard time and again, and agree with though, is that other people will notice it before you do because they see your body at angles that you don't!

    I guarentee that someone your size loses 8 lbs...its noticible.

    If you started at 133 and lost 8 lbs that's over 5% of your total body weight!

    Have you taken your measurements to see where you have lost the weight? It may just be in areas that you might not notice as much in terms of how your clothes feel. For example there would be a big difference in how your clothes feel if you lost the weight in your waist compared to maybe the bum or arms.
  • I've lost 37 lbs and I still feel the same most of the time. :ohwell: I think it's a mindset.

    Like I said I think i've really technically only lost 5 pounds. But its deff not noticable. No one has said anything to me. And I only want to loose like 15-20 pounds. It makes me think that my scale is not accurate at all. hmmm fustrating. I think I need to buy a new one.
  • Find a full gallon jug of water or milk. One gallon weighs 8 lbs. Pick it up...that is that much weight off of your body. Trust me your body is thanking you for it even if you can't feel it.

    Yep! It's so hard to imagine what that weight looks like. Even after I lost 40 lbs and did feel it in my clothes I still didn't really "see" it. I think cause it is spread out over your whole body.
    Then I looked at the huge bag of dog food in the corner and realized that that was how much of me was gone. When I picked it up and felt how sore it made my knees to carry it up the stairs, I really got it!!!!

    I"ve lost a little bit over 20 lbs and I still feel the same. Clothes has recently just gotten lose on me. Ahh..I need to lose 10 more lbs by 3.4.10 and it's stressing me out big time.
  • Sometimes water weight is the first to go. That may be what you have mostly lost. Try not to get frustrated and just keep working hard. Weight loss is not a fast, simple thing to do like is shown on tv informercials! It is actually a slow process; this is something I have to remind myself of also! And, the less weight you have/want to lose actually makes it and even slower process. Keep working and eating right. You'll notice!

    Don't buy a new scale. If you say your clothes still fit the same, what difference will it make if the scale says you are down 10 lbs or down 5 lbs if your clothes still fit the same.

    I know what you are feeling because I am going thru the same emotions. Although the scale is down and yes I am able to fit some older jeans that I haven't been able to wear in a while...I don't see it when I look at myself in the mirror and I don't "Feel" different either.

    It will all come in time. Just keep going!
  • Sometimes it takes more than 5 or ten pounds before you see a difference. It just depends on the person. For me personally I can't see a difference in size till about 15 pounds. Hang in there you are headed in the right direction and I am sure your body loves you for getiing into healthy habits.

    I didn't find that i could tell right away either. I lost 20 pounds over two months in the summer. Then I stayed at 20 pounds down for about a month. By the end of the that month my clothes were all hanging off me, yet the scale hadn't changed. So i guess my body drops pounds, then the inches catch up after. That was just with moderate walking and biking as exercise.

    Unfortunately that is the reality of our bodies. Some women can lose 10 lbs and drop a jean size..as if... make that 15-20 lbs for my endomorph body, Stick with your inches to see where the weight is coming from..remember that the fat comes off like the layers of onions.

    Another possibility is the water weight that is usally lost during the first week of any change in our diets. So realistically the fat loss may equate to 3-5lbs and the rest is water.


    Try to focus on the downward changes and stay steady in your efforts.
