I've been eating like crap lately. I had pizza hut for three straight days over the weekend, and burger king twice this week. Granted, I was within my calorie range for all of those days (but over on my sodium goal and fat goal).... as you can see in some days in my diary. I also drink a lot of alcohol about two to three times a week - but I only stick to vodka and diet coke. I am really scared that with all my mishaps this week that I will gain :( This is horrible

    Even if you do, unless you went over your calorie goal, it will only be temporary and water, and will disappear within 3-5 days of your getting back on track so I wouldnt worry. Especially as life is going to be full of occasions where you splurge a little anyway, eg christmas, and so weight isn't going to be static even when you hit your goal and maintain.

    So going over in my fat goal wouldn't really effect me gaining real weight? Yeah, the sodium really takes its toll on me, which is why I try to keep it below 1800 mg every day. I get bloated so easily!

    Yes. Burger King, Pizza Hut and Vodka is a sure way to gain weight!!
    IF you eat over your calories. :)
    If you've stayed within your calorie range, you'll be fine. Being over or under your macros/micros doesn't affect you as much being over your calories does! So as long as you're within calories, you'll be ok.

    Now that I think about it, I was probably over on a few days.... by how much , I don't know. Maybe one day it was at least 2000 calories, and others it was just a couple hundred over my goal.... =/

    If you ate over maintenance (your target plus your deficit) you will gain weight. If you did not you will not except for possible water weight but that will be temporary.

    A slight oversimplification but basically:

    Calories = weight loss
    Macros = body composition

    It is really all about calories but eating healthier will make you feel better. Pick one thing healthy and stick with it, then the next, and so on.

    Exercise is important.

    Eat less calories lose fat (calories are really all that matter for weight loss)
    exercise, maintain health and lean body mass

    eat less, move more.

    I found a couple of books that helped me. Bethany Frankel Naturally Thin, and John Barban the Anything Goes Diet.

    John Barban also wrote the Venus Index which is more than a workout, it's a lifestyle that helps you learn to lose weight, navigate society pressures, set goals that work. Because of him I lost 60 lbs at age 50 after being obese most of my life, and won a fitness contest at age 51. Because I won a contest my story is on the Venus Index blog and Bobbies Fitness blog.

    I sincerely hope this helps.

    Thank you!! Finally someone explained what these mean in a simple understandable manner. :smile:

    You may gain a bit, but most will come right back off...just get back on track tomorrow and forget about last week.

    You seem to be assuming a large deficit from eating less nearly every day, so unless you drank a ridiculous amount of vodka each day, you likely only gained temporary water weight.
