Sugar goal - How realistic?

Hey everyone, I'm trying to determine just how realistic my 36g/day sugar goal is. It sounds fair enough until I look at the sugar content of what I had always thought were healthy foods. For example, a medium apple has 16g of sugar, and a serving of 2% milk has 12g. So a bowl of Cheerios and an apple in the morning will put me close to 80% of my daily intake before I even leave the house!
Any suggestions?

Short answer: don't worry so much about the sugar from fruits, veggies, or other whole foods. You need to worry more about the sugar that is added to your food, not the sugar that is there naturally.
For a longer explanation, check on this thread I posted a month or so ago. It has more details of why you are always going over.
