Ok, so I'm going to sign up for Hell Runner in Feb 2013 with a few guys from Work, I must be mad.

I have a long way to go in order to get in shape for this and not much time but I'm going to push myself as much as I can. I want to lose around 50-60lbs, get my running up to a good level and I have around 4 months to do it.
Would love to hear from anyone who has done it before, anyone who would be interested in joining us or anyone who would just like to support me.

I've gone from not being able to run to being able to run 10k easily in about four months. Maybe I could have done more if I really pushed myself so I definitely think it's possible. Plus, it's such a great motivation knowing you have that goal in sight, good luck.0

I got up to 10k from not running in 6 weeks, though I had reasonable CV fitness before that - 4 months should be easily possible to get up to 10-12 miles but *make sure you take care of your knees!* I increased my mileage too quickly recently because I felt so good out running, and have had to take nearly a week off running at all (making do with cycle/elliptical in the gym but it's not the same!) to let them recover. Get good shoes, and read a bit about running form (holding myself up straighter has def helped me reduce getting stitch, for example) and build it up -- good luck0
