I have been on a diet, ie healthy eating for nearly2 weeks and the last few days I have been in a seriously foul mood :( so irritable. I thought it was hormonal a first but it's just not going away.

So is this a stage? Will I get through this? HinT's and tips please

I find if I don't eat enough calories I get really irritable. How many calories are you consuming and are you eating back exercise calories? I noticed on your page that you are breastfeeding too, are you eating enough calories to cover that? Hard to tell as your diary is closed but just a few suggestions.

Also, have you cut out a lot of your carbs? That can cause a feeling of fatigue for a couple of weeks.
  • So had i! I'd been feeling kind of depressed too. I don't know why as i was eating my calories. Maybe you're low in sugar?

Also, have you had our iron levels checked. Mine were really low at one point and I felt awful.

It's a bit hard to judge without looking at your food diary, but it sounds like you may not be eating enough.
If your diet is too restrictive, your body will react like that.

Hmm thanks, I am eating about 1500 calories so not super low, and although breastfeeding my daughter eats plenty of other stuff. She's a bit variable too so I don't tend to allow myself extra calories for it. I am supplementing iron as I know it's an issue for me

    Have opened diary :)

and you could just be in a bad mood!!
May not be related to anything diet or health but some days we just want to kill somebody?

It fades, don't worry. I was a damn grumpy ogre when I first started out, the first couple of days I would snarl at anyone around me.

But afterwards it evened out, and now, after a good 4,5 week of eating healthy and changing up my food intake I feel a lot better and in good spirits.

I haven't had a serious depressive mood ever since I started eating healthy.

If my blood sugars go low I become an angry beast, which is why I can't do the fasting thing that everyone is obsessed with right now... I have to have 1300-1600 calories every day.

I wonder if its a combination of things. I was irritable and depressed in the first weeks but there were so many changes happening that I chalked it up to that. (body adjusting) I have felt a lift of my spirits of late and am grateful.

Your diary looks fine! Maybe it really is just a phase, then.
Have you tried eating more snacks in between your meals? Do you sleep well?
I am usually super grumpy when I go a long time without eating, or when I am too tired. But I never had a child, so I am clueless about that. XD
