Plateau

I am struggling with the dreaded plateau. I am down 58 pounds and my weight loss has slowed dramatically. Has anyone experienced this and if so what did you do to get around it. I had a visit with the doc yesterday that suggested that I increase my calories to over 2000 a day for several weeks and then start to cut my calories again to 1200-1300. He advised me to continue my exercise regime which includes running 2-3 miles a day, with weight training on alternate days, and stationary bike when I can. I really would love to hear from you that have been there and what you did to get out of the slump. Thank you very much!!!!

Not alone at all. There are many different opinions here as some have a creditable background and others do not. Some ways works for some and not for others. Ok now that is said my opinion is 1200-1300 is too low if you are doing that much exercise. try around 1600-2000 a day. Make sure you get a balanced day with Protein, fats and Carbs. Stay with healthy fats and complex carbs. Drink lots of water, say a minimum of 10 cups a day. Every 8-12 weeks of exercise take a week off to rest. Increase your intensity of jogging/running or HIIT. High intensity at shorter periods will burn the fat more then a longer slow pace. I believe in supplements to fill the gaps of nutrition that our food lacks and watch what you take as supplements are not created equally.

I think most people have hit a plateau somewhere along this road if not multiple times. I have and just need to re evaluate things and make some minor changes.

    Hope this helps some.
