How do you stay Motivated?

Whenever people ask me "what my secret was" I feel like they are always disappointed with my answer. Which always is "hard work, determination and sacrifce" . I have no problem telling people how hard it was to be sure I was eating right and healthy, and to exercise every day. I was motiavated to lose weight. I wanted a healthier me, so I worked for it.

Whether your just beginning your weight loss or have already reached your goal. How do you stay motivated to live a healthy lifestyle?

My motivation has changed some now. I'm building muscle and toning and I love the results. I want more!

feel better in general and have never felt so comfortable in my clothes.

Lastly, I can play longer with my kids- that is the best!!
  • Hi

I think it is great that you both have lost so much weight.
I always have the right thoughts, but I lose motivation very quickly.
    Any pointers.

It comes and goes but the more old skinny clothes I fit in, the better I stay motivated...

It first started with not wanting to feel fat anymore, to prove something, and to have some control in my life......now I just want to keep slip on these skinny jeans on a day to day basis and say, "Damn I look hot"! Who wouldn't want that?

I like being stronger and more athletic and the way those two things improve my aesthetics.
  • For me sounds dumb but watching the movie "Rudy" makes me feel like I can do anything :)

Mine is vain. Every time I try to make up an excuse for not working out I have to tell myself "Working out is what hot people do." I want to be hot. So I work out.

Also I never, ever regret working out, even when I feel like *kitten* afterward. I pretty much always regret not working out.

I would say the best motivation for me has been to sign up for events and train for them. Then, I always have something to work towards. Trying to do one per month :)

planetadventureracing.com - they have some cool races

I recently participated in my first ever relay sprint triathlon and it was amazing!

    Simply: I don't.

I can't stay motivated 100% of the time, but I DO stay COMMITTED to myself. Motivation waxes and wanes, but my commitment to myself is a sure thing.

What this means is, even when I am feeling poo, eating wrong and not exercising I STILL commit to log everything!!!! This is so I can at least monitor and keep a lid on the damage as my motivation and always returns within a few days.

Also, keep supportive healthy minded friends around.

You have a very realistic mindset :) I think that's great.

To me it's not ab motivation. It's about wanting it. I want this more than anything, so I just do it. Simple as that.
I once read on these boards & I wish I could remember who said it, but it's stuck with me. 'Motivation is just an invention. If you want something, you'll do it.'
