Resting heart rate and exercise calories

I've read online a few places that you should subtract your RHR (Resting heart rate) from your exercise calories. Has anyone else heard of this? I use an HRM to track my exercise calories and would like to know if this is true or not.

    I think you're referring to your Basal Metabolic Rate. Some people do subtract it out. I don't. Probably more accurate, but I'm usually not so close on my calories to have it make a difference.

    i am not so sure about that. your target heart rate is resting minus maximal heart rate. a good way to figure is this:

    thr=[mhr-rhr]x (training intensity %)+ rhr.

    mhr: maximum heart rate (220-age. ) not the most accurate way.
    rhr: resting heart rate
    training intensity ( 60-80%)

    hope this helps
