Settings for weight loss?

So I'm getting frustrated because I am always feeling hungry. I work out 6-7 days/week (have started incoroprating more strength training as well as Cardio and I'm now taking ballet once/week for 1 hr and 15 minutes each time).

Without exercise included...I work somewhat of a desk job, much like a nurse. I sit a good part of the day typing up assessments, etc...but I spend a portion of the day (I'd say maybe 1/4 of my day) on my feet, walking around visiting patients.

I have my profile set to sedentary.

No weight loss. I have lost some inches but not much. I'm getting annoyed because I'm putting in the work...before I was not eating my exercise calories back and saw no results, so people told me to eat them back in order to fuel my body. I'm doing that...and it's still not working.

Seriously getting frustrated.

Its entirely possible your muscles could be holding fluid from so many workouts? Maybe give yourself a day or two off or reduce the intensity?

I don't have much to help you except a friendly bump so other people will see it. :flowerforyou:

Since you have so little to lose your weekly weight loss goal should be set to 0.5lbs/week, too large of a deficit will lead to the loss of a large % of your existing lean muscle vs. fat loss.

I would also suggest upping your protein to a minimum of 100 grams/day.

Try setting to lightly active instead. You're not sedentary. Sedentary people sit all day at work, then sit the rest of the night at home. Make sure you're set to lose a half pound a week, eat most of your exercise calories, and aim for more protein than MFP suggests. Track your progress through more than just the scale. How clothes fit, measurements, and progress photos.

Inches trump pounds every time. You have very few pounds you want to lose. You might get to your ideal size and shape without losing another pound. But not if you're only looking at the scale.

Going by the scale alone, I've gained weight since last summer. Photos tell a different story.

I'm sorry, I don't know enough about all this to give you any true advice but I definitely feel for you. It must be very frustrating putting in all the work and not seeing any results. I am in week 2 and know I will be gutted if the pound(s) don't drop. Wishing you all the best and I hope that you get some good advice soon!

Thank you very much...I did see that that setting is 1 lb/week instead of 1/2 lb...I'm not sure if I missed that when I was setting up. That may help.

I have been making a conscious effort to eat more protein. For the most part the past week, the only macros I've gone over on were Fiber and Protein.
  • So I thought you were a lot like my situation at first. Im not losing weight and workout a lot but Im losing inches so Im not discouraged at all. But I cant get this thing to save where it will set to lose more than 1.2 lb per week, but I just got back on here so I didnt have to keep all the logs myself. I dont know if your pictures are current but maybe you dont have that much to loose. Just tone up different areas. Thats my problem now, my workout needs to be adjusted to target different muscle groups to tone them more.

Are you sure you want to lose more weight? I peeped at your (gorgeous) wedding pics and you are pretty thin. Maybe just concentrate on toning and inches at this point? Also, you could tweak your macros but I'm not sure how that impacts your sugar levels and stuff like that. Obviously that is most important. I was stuck for almost a month so I stopped eating my nightly bowl of cereal and the weight is coming off again. Go figure.

Also, I just signed up for a ballet class! I'm kind of nervous since it's been 12 years since I stepped into a dance studio. How do you like it?

I'm beginning to think the same thing. Before I did entirely cardio...now I'm starting to weights several times a week as well (doing 1/2 hour weights targeting a specific area and then 1/2 hour cardio). I'm also doing the ballet for flexibility and strength...and i'm trying to get back into 1/2 hour of pilates too. Getting stiff in my old age LoL

I have only had one lesson so far (missed one last week because I thought they were closed when I showed up...they opened 5 minutes after I left LoL)-I LOVE it. If only because I feel so pretty in my outfit...it's a workout though....I was sore all day the next day. It made me realize how much flexibility I'd lost. I think they do a recital close to the end of the class too, so I'm pretty excited about that.
  • Get yourself into the veggie section at the store, broccoli, brussel sprouts, sweet potatoes
Chicken thigh or breast, decent frozen fish fillets ( supreme choice has 4 oz fillets in the freezer section )

Cut half of the cutesy cookies/crackers out and eat some real food: oatmeal and whole wheat pasta will do you far better
eat up to half of your exercise calories back

If you need more exercise, hit the scale with a hammer before tossing it out, LOL

Take a look at this group and the sticky posts - it sounds like you are not eating enough to support you lifestyle and your weight loss.

Less in does NOT mean more lost!

Cutsey cookies/crackers? I'm trying to figure out what you're referring to.

I enjoy an indulgence at the end of the day if I have calories to spare. And the cookie last night was full of old fashioned oats (uncooked)

I remember your thread about this last week. I looked at your diary and this week you've eating sugary treats everyday, maybe you should try cutting back on that.

Calories are what matters the form of them has very little or nothing to do with weight loss (body composition maybe, weight loss no)

I'm trying to see what you're talking about. Semi Sweet Chocolate? Very little sugar in that. I will admit that the no bake cookie had sugar in it...but on average I really don't eat candy or treats in large quantities. A tiny amount once a day is not going to make or break my diet. I mean...if that was the one thing holding me back from losing weight and I had to give up indulgence all together...I'd say screw it. Sorry. One small treat a day is not going to kill me.
