if i'm on a 1630 calorie a day diet, does that mean after so long, i will weigh 163 lbs? i've read that you can base your weight on the calories that you take in. another words,if i take in 1800 a day, you will eventually weigh 180 lbs ? have a great day!

Not sure how true that is. I eat around 1345 a day right now and I weigh 121 lbs.0

Uhh, no.
Your calorie goal is calculated by taking an estimate of what you burn ever day (called your total daily energy expenditure) and subtracting from that. So, you are eating less than what your body uses every day. This will result in weight loss. The numbers in your calorie goal are not predictors of the future. If that were the case, I would be shooting back up to 204.2 lbs.0 -
If that were true Michael Phelps would weight around 1200 pounds.0

This is when you use google.
Calculate it! I'm 67kg and my maintenance cals is 1800-2100 each day. I'm not 180 or 210 pounds.0 -

No I eat 2000 Net cals/day to maintain 140lbs.0 -

Not if the OP is talking about Net cals, as he burns most of his off.0 -
I eat 2000 and weigh 118. So, no.0

I have heard them mention on shows like I Eat 33,000 calories a day that to maintain a weight of like 500 lbs they'd eat 5000 calories a day but of course this is not based on their height or anything. I'm 105 lbs and i don't eat 1050 calories a day or I'd be losing.0

no.
by coincidence of numbers, yes 1800 for SOME PEOPLE will eventually bring their weight to 180.. but then it will probably keep going down.... in the same way that my bike happens to get ~45mpg at 45mph... it doesnt get 60mpg at 60mph.. the 45 is just a coincidence.
A calorie is a amount of energy. It is just a unit.
1 pound of fat contains about 3500 calories.
so if you wanted to lose 10 lbs, you need to burn off 35,000 more calories then you take in.
Obviously you cant just stop eating.. you'll die, become malnourished, lose more then just fat, etc.
so you figure out what your body burns during the day.... lets pretend its 2300...
to lose 1 pound a week, you can take 1 pound (3500 calories) and divide it by 7 days. this is an easy 500 calories a day.
you take the 2300 you burn a day, minus 500.... and you get your 1800 calories a day... stick to that, and after you lose the 10 lbs, you go and recalculate.... since you're smaller, you may only burn 2200 a day.. so you then have 1700 calories a day.. etc...
eventually you get where you want, and eat the extra 500 calories a day so you stay even.0 -
I think someone has been telling you porky-pies0
