My first big NSV

I stopped by the store after work today to pick up some new headphones because mine crapped out on me this morning and the store had all kinds of clothes on clearance for the end of the season. I do love a good sale so I wandered over to take a look and came across a cute skirt.
For years and years I would have automatically grabbed an 18 and headed to the dressing room to try it on, but about a year ago I started to be able to fit into some 16s because I'd been working out some and had lost a few inches. I just recently really buckled down to weight-loss, started tracking my food, and started exercising more in June when I joined MFP. Anyway, I don't know what got into me but I decided I'd try on a size 14.
I quite literally felt a little queasy as I headed into the dressing room. I knew it would feel like such a victory if it fit and I knew I was going to be so disappointed if it didn't. Suddenly if felt as though this skirt was going to be the validation for the past three months of work. I was wearing a thigh-length shirt today over a pair of leggings and I was so nervous I didn't even bother to undress. I believe I was subconsciously thinking that if it didn't fit, I could blame it on the fact that I was trying it on over the leggings (because leggings would be SO bulky, right? Not!).
Anyway, I slipped the skirt on and reached back to fasten the hook and eye closure. It worked! I could at least close it. Now came the real test. I started easing up the zipper. It was close. Soooo very close. I took the skirt back off, rehung it and went back to the rack. And then I picked up a size 12 because yeah, the 14 was close but it was just a little too loose!!!!
A 12! OMG, I haven't worn a twelve since right after my daughter was born and she's a sophomore in college now. I think I need to lie down with a cold cloth on my head for a little while now. Or maybe I'll go stand on the corner and shout it out to the world. Not sure which sounds best at the moment. I still feel a little queasy...I think it's my stomach doing a happy dance.:drinker:

That's fabulous!!!! I was thinking about heading out this weekend to try a size 12 myself, but had sort of already managed to talk myself out of it - my 14s are getting way too loose after I wear them but when they're first washed are still fitting, so I'm like right on the cusp. Maybe I'll be brave and go try it!0

Congrats!!!!!!!0

I'll stand on the opposite corner yelling back...YEAHHHHHHHHHHHHH that is so GREATTTTTTTTTTT...nothing like these NSV's I can actually say I've never stuck on a diet long enough to have more than one or two. Keep it up and do your best. Good luck0

You completely brought tears to my eyes. #1 what a great story teller are you! I was hooked. #2 I felt myself pulling for you and a great outcome. I am sooo proud and happy for you. I have been in a 16 for as long as I can remember, and am now using some old 14 sizes. I had a great NSV the other day as I found myself annoyed while working because I had to keep pulling up my capri's when no one was looking but after getting home, relaxing and examining what I was doing, I couldn't help grinning. I love they way my body is compacting and reshaping because of exercising and eating right.
You deserve all of the great things that come your way. You worked hard for these successes. Keep them coming!!!:happy:0 -

Thanks to all of you! I'm wanting to do handsprings at the moment, over something as simple as clothing. I won't though - mainly because I can't and I'd hurt myself, then I'd put weight back on and wouldn't be able to wear my new skirt. :laugh:0

LOL, my husband doesn't let me get away with bad pronoun antecedents when I'm speaking, so I figured I'd better not let them slip into my writing either.0 -
