Thank you all for taking the time to read and answer my post. What I really got from this thread is safety first. Don't worry mfp members I'll be careful. I'm excited to move up a weight Slowly but surely I'll be working with 20 pounders each side. Haha Ill see. I'm not in a hurry.
@ yanicka1 You are amazing.0 -
The workouts have been getting easier and I wanted to challenge myself by working out with heavier weights. After reading this thread I realize I shouldn't worry about looking like Hulk Hogan.0

I also stick with five pounders since I'm terrified of looking roided out.0

I don't do at home workouts, I just go to the gym. For some lifts my dumbbells range from 45-70 pounds. I'm still losing weight.0

Hi I did 30 DS at 6kg weights max.
It is however more cardio than weight training, there are resistance / strength exercises in it, that you'll find start to firm up muscles, but you won't bulk as the others have said. Big muscular women you see on the internet have often (I won't say all as a stereotype) taken testosterone to get that way. We don't have it naturally.
Now.. if you'd like to move on from 30 DS the others mentioned Stronglifts 5x5 there is a group on here that is highly active. Also there are other resources if you google them. Starting Strength by Rippetoe is good too. Bodybuilding.com has great vids of exercises with dumbbells or bodyweight but ultimately I'd get down the gym for heavy weights - you get a buzz and will shift weight while becoming leaner / stronger.
Good luck.0
