Hi my first post on here although I have lurked for a long time, reading and loving all the recipes. Hubby and I are losing weight together although it is not easy as we are at an age where weight is more difficult to shift.
He was getting withdrawal symptoms from not having pastry and we were hunting for snacky items, so I have devolped this recipe using filo pastry to satisy his pastry urge but also be low in calories, I did not realise how low until I put the recipe into MFP recipe builder.

Ingredients (makes 8)
Filo Pastry, 2 Sheets ( I used the frozen one from Tesco)
Butter (melted), 10 g
Sausage Meat 50 g
Dijon Mustard, 1 Tsp

Method
1. Brush melted butter over i sheet and place 2nd sheet on top.
2. Brush more butter over then fold in half (to give 4 layers)
3. Place a 1 inch wide line of mustard approx 2 inches down. across the sheet
4. Roll just under half of the sausage meat into a long sausage shape and place onto the mustard
5. Roll over the pastry using melted butter to seal it in.
6, Cut the strip into 3 sausage rolls (approx 2 inches long each one).
7. Brush lightly with melted butter and place onto a baking tray
8. Repeat steps 3 to 7 to get another 3.
*. For a 2 inch wide end strip I made 2 individual ones to use up the pastry and make 8 in total
9. Cook in a pre heated oven 200ºC (sorry don't know the US Fahrenheit comparison) for 20 minutes

If you can leave to cool if not they are yummy eaten while still warm.

    Sounds great!
  • I'm new around here but I can't think of a better post to make my first comment on than this. That's my pie addiction sorted. Now I've just got to find a cream cake substitute for the other half. :)
  • Sorry if you answered this already, what type of sausage did you use?

I bought the pack of ready to use sausage meat from Sainsbury's, but you could use any sausage and skin them, just make a note of how many you use, to adjust the calorie count. .
