Men and hair...what gives?

So I have been growing my hair out for about three years. I had super short hair for a really long time and wanted change-then boyfriend mentioned he liked long hair...now that it is longer, he says he likes it when I wear my hair up...and I heard on the radio the other day that men like women's hair best when they wear their hair in ponytails or styles that keep their hair away from their faces/off their necks...I don't get it. If all we do is put it up, why do men want women to have long hair lol! Seriously...what gives, guys ;)

Got me...my favorite is long and straight and I don't care for ponytails unless you need to have it up for something athletic or something.

Wear it the way you like it. Stop worrying about what men want.

Solution - Just show cleavage. Most guys won't even notice if you have a head, let alone hair.

i love long hair, but not when it hides your face. doesnt matter if its up or down, just out of your face lol
  • Long hair up provides the idea of the intimacy of taking it down.

Of course, if you're trying to grow it out, you want to keep it up, so that it's not rubbing on things and weakening it. Mine is down to my hips, and it is down only when I am having sex and washing it. (Yes, I sleep with my hair braided and bunned on top of my head, or it tries to strangle me.)

^^^^^^^^^^^^ If your man is paying this much attention to your hair, you're doing it wrong.
  • Long hair just seems more feminine, even if it is in a ponytail or up, can't say I care that much though, as long as it's not a complete disaster.

When my husband and I were dating I was asking my friend about how I should style my hair, her boyfriend was there also. My husband (boyfriend at the time) wanted it up. Then the girl's boyfriend said, "That's just because you want to see her neck!" The girl and I were stumped. And my husband was nodding his head. It turns out my husband (and other guys) sometimes really like a lady's neck (as well as all the other parts of her).

Yeah, I know what you mean! But, I do think they like that moment when you let your hair down.

    I don't mind being spanked..

If it's pulled back, there's nothing blocking the view of the action.

I failed at pulling off the short hair look... I've had long hair my whole life. Over the past 6mo I decided to change it up a little and I have a "layered" look. It seems I get noticed more now when I go walking especially if I have my hair down. I don't like having it down when I walk though because I like to show off my wings on my back at every chance I can. :)

Title: Does Women's Hair Signal Reproductive Potential?
    Author(s): V.B. Hinsz ; D.C. Matz ; R.A. Patience
Source: Journal of Experimental Social Psychology Volume: 37 Number: 2 Page: 166 -- 172
    Publisher: Academic Press
Abstract: This study explores the possibility that women's hair signals their reproductive potential. Evolutionary psychology and related approaches are considered as rationales for the belief that women's hair is a signal for mate selection and attraction. A sample of women were approached in public places and surveyed as to their age, hair quality, marital status, hair length, children, and overall health. A significant correlation between hair length and age indicated that younger women tend to have longer hair than older women. Hair quality was correlated with women's health. Consistent with the principle of intersexual selection, the results of this study indicate that hair length and quality can act as a cue to a woman's youth and health and, as such, signify reproductive potential. Future directions for research on women's hair are discussed.

I think long hair represents being feminine to most men... I say most because not all view it that way... long hair for women has been the "norm" for a long time. With that being said... I think short or long hair can be feminine and sexy it all depends on the person who is wearing it ;)

I have a borderline hair fetish. I can maybe think of a handful of times that I've found short hair alluring, if that. But the right kind of long hair on a woman and my brain turns to mush.

Worth noting that not all guys are the same, and that they have different likes and dislikes. So generalizing about what guys like won't get you very far.

Maybe he likes long hair put up? You can't put short hair up, and long hair that's down isn't up.

Saying it's a waste of time is like saying that getting in shape is pointless if you're just going to go and wear clothes.

My partner prefers shorter hair on women, actually, even though he likes having longer hair to pull in bed. BUT many people like longer hair on women, but pulled up so that little tendrils touch the neck & the shoulders in a sweet, tantalizing way. It's like a hint of what you'll look like with your hair down, in bed, but still exposes the sexiness of your neck.
