Septoplasty WITH rhinoplasty?

I have a deviated septum which makes it difficult to breathe sometimes and I get very very bad nose bleeds. My dad's really wanting me to consider getting a septoplasty because it's so bad. I'm talking nose bleeds that (TMI warning) are literally gushing for almost an hour. I have to keep my head hovered over a garbage can or a sink because they bleed so bad that when I go to change the paper towel it pours down. So if I do get this surgery to help me out, is there a way that they can do a little mini rhinoplasty while they're in there? I really hate my nose and would love to have the bridge chiseled down and make it not stick so far out of my face. But would this be a whole separate charge? Or is there a way to be all roped into one? Has anybody had experience with this before? Thank you in advance :)

My friend had both done at the same time. Definitely ask your doctor if he/she can do it!

I had a lot of work done on my sinus, deviated septum and a few other things caused by long term allergies. From that experience (all done at the same time) If you're going to do it, you will save a little money by doing it altogether, plus you only put yourself through it once. Whether you get charge seperately for it will mostly likely depend on the doctor.
Sit down with your doctor and be honest with him/her they will let you know if what you want is okay and you should be able to get a quote of pricing from the receptionist(you may have to figure out the $$ from the health insurance yourself).
If you don't like the answer or the cost, shop around, get a second opinion.

If you're bleeding that much getting an answer sooner rather than later sounds like a good idea. Good luck! I hope it works out!!!
  • Alright thanks you guys. I'm gonna talk to my dad about setting up a consultation for the septoplasty. And while I'm there I'll ask about getting the minor adjustments of the rhinoplasty.

If anyone else has had any experience with this feel free to add your input!

Not from personal experience but I know 2 people who have had the procedure done at the same time.

They wouldn't have had rhinoplasty by itself, but if the Dr is already doing surgery (i.e. the septoplasty) there why not add in the rhinoplasty?

Check with your insurance as well as your Dr about it. They may just cover the septoplasty portion.

You can get both done. I had septoplasty done last September and I'm still kicking myself for not doing it 10 years ago. My nose was consistently clogged in the Winter... this Winter was a breeze! It really sucked for a few days but I would do it again in a heartbeat.

I really considered doing rhinoplasty too because my nose is cooked (like, my nose doesn't even look the same depending what side you're looking at me) but it would have been out of pocket and I couldn't justify it... otherwise I would have done it too.
