    A calorie is the unit of energy required to raise the temperature of one cubic centimeter (1 milliliter) of water 1 degree Celsius. However, for food...what we call a Calorie (big "C") is actually a kilocalorie...1000 calories or the amount of energy required to raise the temperature of one liter of water by 1 degree Celsius.

    But your description of what they can do to clothes is quite amusing.:laugh:
