NSV Finally Ran Outside !

I have been running on and off (pregnancy) for the last year but always on a inside treadmill in our house.
I have frankly been terrified of the thought of letting other people see me attempt to run.
But today I finally faced my fears and went outside to run. I loved it. With my earphones in I couldn't hear my breathing just enjoyed the sunshine and breeze whilst listening to music and outrunning Zombies (Zombies, Run ! App on my phone)
I managed 2.5 miles in 36 minutes and my legs are killing me, due to the hills I guess.
Certainly won't be my last outside run

My legs are very stiff this morning, which is a shame, as I wanted to go for another run !0 -
That's awesome! I just did the same not too long ago and was quite surprised how well I did after a lot of time on the treadmill. Keep it up!0

Go YOU!!! Fantastic job!
Yeah, once you realize that no one is really paying attention to you, it gets alot easier. For the longest, when I finally left the treadmill and ventured outside, I would not go except under the cover of darkness LOL.
As for the soreness, that will ease up as your legs adjust. Until then, you could try popping whatever sort of anti-inflammation/pain reliever you prefer right after you finish and drink plenty of fluids. And do not forget to stretch!0 -
Thanks

Well done you! I too am psyching myself up for a run in the real outdoors one day soon. Glad you enjoyed yours and I am inspired that you ran so far on your first time.0

Great job! I actually run outside on a busy street in my small town because I feel it provides me with a certain kind of accountability. I am more aware of my form breaking down and I don't stop to walk as much if I know that it is likely someone I know will be driving by. : ) And, on many occasions I have people come up to me and say "hey, I saw you running the other day, I need to get out there, too" and it makes me feel pretty proud of myself!0

Thanks for the lovely posts...well looks like I'll be outside again tomorrow ! As a friend saw my facebook post about running outside and wants to join me, so we'll be both out there tomorrow having a go.0
