Hello!!

Hi everyone

I'm Majella and I'm 30yrs old. I live in Ireland and currently weight 12stone 5lbs which is the heaviest I've been in years. I decided to calorie count as this helped me loose 3 stone a few years back. Life has become a lot more stress-full the past year so I have turned to food for comfort and really had a I don't care attitude about food & life. I am married now for 6yrs and have 1 mad dog and 3 cats!! I've recently started cycling into work and sometimes out and I'm finding it's really helping my stress levels. I run my own business so things are very up and down with it. I am delighted to be here and to make some friends as I start on my weight loss journey once again. I want to get to 10 stone but I have not put a time limit on it but it would be nice to be a dress size smaller by Christmas. So that's me!!! :)

Tell yourself that the weekend is not any different to any other day. I made myself go for a walk today....even though it started to rain as soon as I started to walk!!! It's sometimes mind over matter and if you don't mind then the weekend don't matter. :-)

Hello, back! I've been thinking a lot about the hunger cravings for about a week and wondering if they are at all similar to other cravings. I don't like being hungry -- who does? But I had another craving, a far worse craving, and I beat that eleven days ago.

I had been a pack-a-day smoker since I was a teenager and with the help of the Allen Carr book, Easy Way to Stop Smoking, I quit and have been able to manage the cravings for cigarettes. The book re-programmed my brain to change from thinking, "Oh, I wish I had a cigarette!" to thinking, "I'm FREE of those awful things!" So every time the cigarette thought pops into my head, I switch that thought to "I'm FREE!. Gloriously FREE!" I don't want even one!

With that success, I've been wondering if it is possible to take the food cravings that hit us at stressful times and change our thoughts of, "I want to eat something right now," to thoughts of, "I am in control of what I choose to eat and I won't eat something that doesn't fit my nutrition plan!"

This is way too simplified here. The book I read was pages and pages on the topic, not just a few sentences. Still, as niftyfifty47 said, think on the positive side.

Wow good job on giving up the cigarettes that's a major achievement! Does Allen Carr do weight loss books? I have this guided mediation I listen to by Glen Harold and it really helps with the cravings but I have lost the cd so I've not been able to listen to it in a while. It actually is a lot more stress full eating something your not suppose to because then you have the guilt and the worry about possible gains on the scales. But if you just say your free then it's just that one decision at that moment and that's it! get on with life.

you'll find Glen Harold on you tube. Not sure how long the recordings or if the one you lost is on there.
