Resisting Temptation

Sometimes it seems impossible to resist those temptations, if you eat dessert late at night or find yourself awakened by a dream and you're hungry, you blindly head to the fridge. Some ways to help kick those habits are to try sticking notes to your cabinets or fridge door. Some ideas are:
1. Closed for the Evening
2. Breakfast comes Soon
3. Drink ice water
4. Have a mint
5. Toothpaste your palate
6. Walk around the block
7. Are you really hungry? or just bored?
I know I used to eat at all hours of the night, I'd wake at 2:00a.m. and cook Cheeseburgers, and chips. I'd even get in the car and go to McDonalds to get those burgers...dang burger addiction. I've beat it though.
If this helps even one person I'd be happy.
Have a great day all.

Hey **jerbear** CONGRATS for being able to resist temptation! I joined a forum here dealing with NO LATE NIGHT SNACKING...as that was MY problem even just two months ago. I, too, was able to create a NEW NO LATE NIGHT SNACKING habit (big smile)... Sometimes I would come in to MFP and just peruse all the forums looking for ways to resist tempation...soooo just wanted to give you an "atta boy"...you were able to be creative in "kicking the habit"..Keep up the great work..and I also hope your post will encourage one other person (or more)...as well...:drinker:
Take care,
Deb :flowerforyou:0 -
I have problems with after dinner snacking, so I'd love to try this! However, I think my room mates might think I'm a nut. Or rather, more of a nut than they already think I am.
I like to write up reminders a bit like this on my computer desktop, since that's where I usually am, along with other motivations like "Keep smiling today!", because you'd be surprised how much that makes the difference between emotional and healthy eating.0 -
That's a good idea!0

I am trying to recognize when my book triggers a walk to the fridge. I read a lot, especially in the evening when my bones tell me I have been active enough! And I am noticing that when the book talks about food or a meal (especially a shared meal) I tend to head to the fridge! Late night TV watchers may want to watch whether the commercials, or even show content, is doing the same thing. (I don't watch TV, never have.)0
