Well. That was a mighty fine breakfast! LOL. Don't starve yourself, that won't help. Eat some veggies and lean protein for lunch and dinner and you may want to exercise some of those carbs off if you can - a couple of walks or runs or whatever. It happens sometimes - just hop right back on the wagon and keep on truckin'!0

I second this. Don't sweat it too much as long this isn't something that is going to become a regular occurrence! :flowerforyou:0 -
Agree with MTgirl. In addition, DRINK WATER, it will help you stay full for the rest of the day. I recommend some serious cardio to burn off some of those carbs.
Your diary is a TOOL.. Use it to learn from your mistakes, and don't stress. Tomorrow is another day.
And maybe tomorrow, it would be best to stay out of Starbucks and the bagel store at breakfast time!!0 -
Goes well with the 99 animal crackers you had for dinner last night.0
-
But was it good?! Remember how that diary looks today for next time you are tempted....bet you won't do that again!0

you ate 3 bagels? its ok. im going out for dinner with my boyfrined tonight to who knows where..and then out for lunch tomorrow with my frineds for mexican..yah0

Couldn't help but chuckle over your breakfast!! I soooo understand this!!! Just start fresh for your next meal!:laugh:0

Okay. I looked at your diary and became engrossed in it. From looking at all your past 10 days or so, I'm truly wondering what's up. You eat like 800 calories one day and 4,500 the next! You eat 6 cookies and 125 animal crackers and 1/4 of an ice cream cake as only a third of a meal.
I'm just confused. If I'm correct from what I've gathered- you're male and you weigh 140 pounds (roughly). Now maybe I'm off my rocker, but that seems really thin unless you are only 5 feet tall.
I guess I don't really understand. Are you still hoping to loose more weight? Is your idea to eat in such drastically fluctuating means? If you are attempting to loose weight-- a daily goal of 1200 calories for any male is far too low. On days that you eat only 800 calories you are starving yourself. This might explain why the next day you overindulgde in a mutiltude of ridiculously unhealthy foods and end up eating too much.
I just can't imagine this being good for you in the long run. I can't imagine how you have energy or feel good eating this way.
I would encourage you to read some stickies on this site and educate yourself more. If it's honestly just been a bad week or so, I don't mean to be harsh but I'm concerned.0 -
I scrolled back through your diary several days and saw a pattern. You are SERIOUSLY undereating for days - then binging. You need to stop that - it is destructive to your body. And why would a male be set at 1200 calories?? That is way too low. You should be eating at least 1600 calories of good, healthy food everyday plus exercising and eating back at least 1/2 of those calories. You need to eat more food on a regular basis - starving yourself on less than 1000 calories for 3 days will only result in problems!0

 I really am laughing out loud right now....0 -
Has the bacardi already been taken? If not, you know what to do... Another suggestion would be to run a little more or do some extra exercise today. Tomorrow is another day and I am sure you can make up for this little slip up in the next few days, but starving yourself is really not a solution. Actually, It is a big problem that should be analysed seriously!!!0

I was more impressed that you had time to fit in an alcoholic beverage already today...:laugh:0

hey im in boston now visiting my girlfriend who dorms here and i ate a bunch of food at her dining hall. lol besides. look at my diary earlier this week. like 1000cal a day. and i worked at a grocery store and mon-thur. pushed shopping carts in from the lot for a total of 1.2hrs each day. and i have an iron gym which i do 150pullups every day at 15reps per set0
-
But if you are exercising and only eating 1000 calories a day as a male, that is EXTREME starvation.
I also have a hard time beliving that you are even in any need of weight loss at your current weight if it is indeed 140 pounds.0 -
1000 calories a day isn't healthy for a guy your age but neither is a 2000 calorie breakfast. You need to look into what is recommended for you at your age. Your body is still developing and growing ( it will into your early 20's ) so look after it.0

I second this. It's not all that surprising to have a massive wtf-day when you've been restricting so much during the week. Relax a little bit, and this sort of thing won't be such a problem.0 -
ok i hear ya guys. and im not trying to lose weight im basically trying to cut bf% i like my weight. and i will eat more during the week. if some of you could friend me or somethin and check in on my diary and help me out thatd be awesome thankyou. and 140lb at 5'8.5'' is a good weight to be at. i have like a mild self diagnosed eating disorder cuz i used to weigh 200lb and be 5'5'' so ya lol0
-
I use to be an athlete in my teens and if you want your performance to be at its best, you better start eating properly and soon!!! Being in a dorm dinning hall is not a good reason. If you want something to happen, only you can take the decision!!
Now all that is left for you to do is to pull up your sleeves and change your ways!!
Good luck0 -

If you're happy with your weight and just trying to adjust he body fat % - you really should be on maintenance calories and be doing some serious working out. For your body to increase muscle it needs proper fuel, and that will help remove the extra fat also. Banks/SHBoss has a lot of great posts and I bet he could help you figure out what would be the best for what you are trying to accomplish. Shoot him a pm sometime! Good luck0 -
You work at a grocery store, so you have the opportunity to stuff your fridge with healthy foods, including veggies, fruits, whole weight bread and other things like that. You should learn to read the labels of the foods you are taking. I am sure someone at the store could help you with this.0

I do have healthy stuff. I have just been stupid in my habits. Thank you all for your support0

I understand what you mean about a self-diagnosed eating disorder, but like everyone has already told you in this thread, your current eating habits are destructive. Now, I don't know if you are being 100% serious about all of your food diary posts and I don't know if you log all of your food, but if you are, then I ask you to PLEASE take people's advice to heart. :]
You need to eat more. Every day. And you need to eat at least some good foods. I know we all have bad days and bad weeks. I have lost 100 pounds myself && I am a little messed up in the head too. I don't think anyone can lose a lot of weight and not be a little weird after that.. but I learned how to take care of myself. I am a girl and I eat around 1800 calories A DAY. I also eat exercise calories and my body fat % is getting lower. If you need advice, I've been around the weight loss block a few times and I would be more than happy to help you out. Send me a message with any questions you may have. I don't like seeing people inadvertently hurt themselves.
You are what you eat.. so unless you want to turn into an animal cracker.. :]

Here is something I just came accross... Hope it helps.
How to Break a Weight Loss Plateau
By Jane Harrison, R.D., Staff Nutritionist
You've been doing a great job with your weight-loss program, but suddenly you feel like you've hit a wall. The pounds you were dropping earlier now stubbornly refuse to budge. Alas, it seems you've reached a dieter's plateau.
Weight-loss plateaus are very common. In fact, if you're trying to lose weight, it's pretty much guaranteed that you'll reach this frustrating stage at some point.
Discouraged? Don't be. Be assured there are steps you can take to bring your weight loss efforts to the next level and get back on track. And remember: It's best to lose weight slowly and sensibly so you can make changes that you'll keep for life.
Getting started . . . again
For starters, don't go to extremes. Slashing too many calories can actually lower your metabolism. Maintaining that standard is also harder to do in the long run. Also, exercising too much is not only unrealistic, but may set you up for injury - especially if the exercise is new to you.
Instead, follow the sensible eating and exercise tips that follow.
Shake up your exercise routine
If you haven't been exercising, get started! Exercise is a crucial part of the formula in any weight-loss program. If you are currently active, here are several ways you can tweak your training routine to push you past the plateau. But always check with your doctor first before you change or increase your activity level.
*Add variety. If walking briskly or jogging is your sole form of exercise, try alternating with swimming, cycling or a fun aerobics class - anything that will change up your routine. Varying your activities will force you to use different muscles and can jumpstart your metabolism.
*Intensify your workouts. What was hard or challenging when you first started may not be so tough anymore. Try going a little faster on the treadmill, or use the incline feature so that you're walking uphill. Also, boost calorie burning by adding short bursts of higher-intensity movement, such as sprinting, to your usual routine. Most experts recommend 30- to 60-second bursts every three to four minutes.
*Add some muscle. Try doing more strength-building exercises, such as weight training or calisthenics. Strength training gives a metabolic boost by building more muscle, which burns more calories than fat.
*Take stock of your diet
As you get comfortable with your diet, it's easy to stop paying attention and fall back into old habits.
*Keep a food journal. You may take a nibble here, a slightly larger snack there, an extra glass of wine. It's usually the little things that make all the difference. Try to keep an honest log of everything you eat and drink for one week. Starting a food diary will help you become more aware of what you're actually eating.
*Watch refined carbs. Healthy carbs (fruits, veggies, beans and whole grains) should comprise 45 percent to 55 percent of your meal plan. But pay special attention to the extra refined carbohydrates that tend to slip through the cracks. Be mindful not only of white flour and sugars, but also hidden carbs in foods such as ketchup, salad dressings, yogurts and soups.
*Make sure you are eating enough. Some dieters actually make the mistake of eating too little. This can cause a sluggish metabolism and thwart further weight loss efforts. Your body requires adequate fuel in order to feel comfortable shedding body fat, especially if you are active. Healthy, well balanced meals (and snacks) with plenty of lean protein, lots of veggies and small amounts of healthy fats will keep your metabolic fire burning.
Vary your food choices. Just as you need to shake up your exercise routine, make sure your diet isn't stale. If you have oatmeal for breakfast every morning, try having eggs and whole-wheat toast. Salad with grilled chicken for lunch every day? How about a bean and veggie soup instead? Varying your nutrients can have an effect on how your body burns fuel as well as keep boredom at bay.
Finally, remember that weight loss is not just about numbers or the scale. Revisit your goals. It's not uncommon to lose sight of all the reasons you wanted to lose weight in the first place. And don't forget about the health benefits! Weight loss is about feeling better - not just looking better. And you may have already accomplished that goal.0 -
I seriously thought you were just a troll.
Actually, I still think you may be.
And if you're not, are you SERIOUS? :noway:
It blows my mind someone could take the step to join a health & fitness website, actually use it, and then have absolutely zero idea about what's up. If you want to do something (build muscle, decrease body fat), RESEARCH how to do it. I'll give you a tip - stuffing your face with an inhuman amount of sugar and carbs really isn't going to cut it.
I understand overeating and binging. Trust me -- I didn't blow up to 270 pounds not binging. But I was depressed & I didn't care & I didn't think it mattered & all that good stuff so I just ignored the problem. You're shoving your issues right in front of your own face (good) yet somehow you're still acting like you're completely oblivious to what you're doing to yourself (not good).
Knowledge really is power. :flowerforyou:0
