    I've lost 15 lbs in 3 months nearly. Be thankful for what you DO lose. Not trying to be like everyone else. It's hard, believe me I know. I have an under-active thyroid... it's hard for me to lose weight. Don't blame your problems, you CAN do it.

    20 years. But once that first five came off, another 95 came off right behind it.

    You rock. I don't know about anybody else, but weight loss has been 99% mental for me. Everything else follows. As long as my head wasn't in the right place, neither was my body.

    Wow. After a search through her posts, because I was CONVINCED she was a troll, she doesn't have PCOS... she's had both ovaries removed.

    Girl, get your ****ing thyroid removed, then we'll talk hormonal caused weight. Messing with anything in the endocrine system will throw you off, but you know what REALLY throws things off? Eating oreos and pudding EVERY DAY.

    Took me 3 weeks. Actually lost 6 lbs the first 3 weeks.

    About 2 weeks. I lost 10 lbs in the first month.

    I lost 7 or 8lbs my first week, but it was water I assume. I think in ab a month I lost 5lbs total. I can't remember exactly, but not too long.

    well i lost 8lbs in like a week and a half....but that is because i cut pop out of my diet completely

  • Two weeks tops. Lost the first 17-18 in under three months. Then, as I only had a small amount left, I got stuck. Adjusted my calorie intake (made it higher but with whole foods and not as many sweets) and picked up 30DS and an aerobics step. I've not even lost a full ten pounds since (July until now), but I only have like seven pounds left so I imagine it will be slow. I'm in no rush. But I found that being nice and asking for advice to take seriously from the forums, I could adjust as needed and get the results I wanted. Sometimes it's not easy to hear but the masses do know what they're talking about.

    OP- I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt and assume this isn't intentional, but you're coming off as very defensive and snippy. You asked for advice and every single reply I saw from you was snarky and/or an excuse. You're a freaking adult, not a kid. Grow up. GIVE YOU a job? Come on, lady.

Now I can sort of understand why you might be a little short with people donyellemoniquex3, I can't begin imagine what you must be going through, especially at your young age.

    To answer your original question though, I dropped the first 5 lbs in the first few weeks, I seem to be able to do that whenever I watch what I eat but it is SO easy for me to put it back on (seem to every weekend) if I don't behave. What I have noticed is if I limit the calories I have for dinner more than any other meal my weight comes down, otherwise nothing happens.

    Despite where my ticker says I'm starting, I actually topped out at about 170 and lost some of the weight before joining this site, and I have to agree with cutting out the soda, switching to whole grains if you must eat bread, replacing high fat snacks with fruit etc. All good advice so far.

    That said, I can relate to the frustration of still living with your folks, especially if their eating habits are poor. I am with my folks until I finish grad school next year, and one of the ways I overcame that was offering to cook a few nights/week. That way, I was taking some additional responsibility in the household and was able to make meals that were healthy and satisfying for every one. I go shopping, buy the ingredients, and my parents help by giving me money towards what I buy (except when I'm working... then I pay for it myself).

    Oh man, I had no idea she had both removed.

    That must be very hard, I can see why she must be so snippy. I hope she gets better and can get through this mentally. She's clearly crying out for help (IMO). It's hard to take as a young woman that you can't physically have children.

    Luckily, there's a beautiful thing called adoption. :D
