My brother has chrohns disease, which is something that messes with your bowel. And the medication he's on has killed his appetite.

Has anyone else been through something similar? What did you eat? Any ideas?

When I went through something similar (I have a related disease) my sister made me banana-chocolate soy milk-protein powder milkshakes. Tasty, nutritious and easy to digest. But I had no energy so I never made them for myself. Also, keep in mind that some foods can cause painful symptoms when you have a digestive disorder like that, but WHICH foods can vary from person to person. And don’t try to make him eat “healthy” foods like raw veggies and fruits right now (unless he wants to) because the high fiber foods are often the worst of all.

ETA: looks like there's a Crohns/IBD group, maybe join and ask them.

Thank you :) Right now he's living on cookies dissolved in milk.. almost like baby food (he's 20). My mum and I just want to add some variety haha
  • My son-in-law has this disease since he was 24 (now 32). One of the big issues for people with this problem is inability to absorb B12 through food, which also leads to loss of appetite. He gives himself a daily B12 injection (does not require an Rx), and it has helped him in every way~! Google B12 injections and this disease, and you will see how much it helps! Good luck to your brother.

I'm experiencing the same thing right now. :( I'm either too tired to eat, too disgusted by the thought of eating, or afraid to eat because of not wanting to face the pain that it will bring. It's a very difficult thing to face... I had to go from my super healthy eating that I've been tracking on MFP since the beginning of the year to... crackers or nothing. If anyone has any other tips, it would be greatly appreciated! I'm being force-fed crap food by my family and it's horrible.

Have y'all tried gluten free? And soup! Just the broth. My brother was diagnosed a bit ago. He eats Gluten free and rarely has alot of problems. Just a thought. I hope yall feel better soon.

My brother had Crohns. He ate plain potatoes, plain peas, and baked fish for most of his meals.
