Any older (past mid-20's) college students out there?

Hello,

I am a full-time college student kind of starting over in life after the bank branch I worked at closed last December. I'm 28, first time in college, and trying to lose a few pounds while adopting healthier habits that will keep me in good shape for the rest of my life. I tend to eat pretty healthily most of the time, but I've been drinking far too much alcohol as life has become increasingly stressful the past couple of years. I also need to consistently exercise, which has been hard to commit to since I'm not really overweight, just carrying a few extra pounds around the middle.

Is there anyone out there in a similar situation?

Just starting grad school, early 30's. About to become insanely busy: working full time, taking 2 grad classes and possibly an undergrad course later in the term as well. I don't look "obese" but that's what the numbers say, so I'm working on bringing it down to "healthy", and I have a very long way to go on that. So I'm working on becoming more active - in a way that I enjoy enough to *want* to do it, and eating better.
I wish you the best of luck in your journey! I'm sure you're not as alone as you think you are. There are plenty of older college students in the continuing ed programs around here.

I'm 29 and am in my senior year in college. I definitely understand the idea of "starting over in life" also. As far as I can tell from my short time here this website is a great place for finding ways to adopt healthier habits in the areas of fitness and nutrition regardless of your weight loss goals. I personally am trying to lose some weight and alcohol has been a factor in my recent weight gain. Seems like I have a tendency to eat a ton of bad food after drinking.

    Good thread idea

42 and very near my degree in Elementary Education. I worked in a school for more than 5 years, divorced my then husband and decided to go back to school to try to secure a better position within a school system. Better late than never right? :blushing:
