Fruit for Breakfast

1 - Hi, I have just been reading that eating ONLY fruit up until breakfast is an amazing way to burn fat, though my other half suggests this is harmful as you miss out on other things like protein. What do you think/know about this?

2 - The same site that I got this from recommends crunches as an exercise, which I have stopped doing since I read on here about how bad they are. Are crunches really bad for you and are sit ups as bad/even worse? if so, why do so many people do them?

Cheers.

You don't miss out on protein!!!! Fruit has protein!

Anyway, fruit for breakfast is the way to go. I highly recommend a fruit-only breakfast.
  • Thank you, that's the reply I wanted. I could have found on internet also but I wanted someone that does this. Great!

I think it's a personal preference, but I feel better if I get a high protein breakfast, which I can't get from fruit alone. I personally don't eat a lot of fruit, but I eat A LOT of veggies. For breakfast I usually have old fashioned oats with protein powder mixed in, and egg whites scrambled with mushrooms & onions....

typically 90% or more of the energy in fruit is from carbs, the protein content is pretty small.

There are no tricks to get your metabolism to burn faster, which is what you would need to "burn fat." Also, some people find that high-carb breakfasts (such as all fruit) set them up to crave food and overeat the rest of the day.

Just fruit doesn't work for me as it makes me way hungier as the day goes on. I try and do a greek yogurt with some Flax Seed (really helps fill me up), lots of water, few cups of coffee and then a banana or other fruit if I am still hungry.

I tend to only use fruit throughout the day as snacks.

I prefer to have fruit with something - so I often make overnight oats with blueberries and banana, or I'll have a green smoothie that has some fruit but also hemp protein and non-dairy milk (I'm eating plant based only).

There is no such thing as a food that helps to burn fat faster, though.
