Am I Eating Clean?

Hi, everyone. I'm pretty new to this better eating/exercising lifestyle. Could a few of you take a look at my diary and let me know if I'm eating clean? I'm not 100% sure about what that means, and I'm looking for all the help I can to keep on the right track. Thanks!

I would cut out the processed Special K and granola bars......... too much sugar.0

Agreed. If you want to "eat clean" (from the definitions I've seen) cut out or greatly reduce the processed foods.0

Clean eating is basically eating lots and lots of fresh and whole foods. If the ingrediant in your food has things that you cant pronounce then that is not a "clean food". Clean eating consist of non processed foods. So, anything in a can, box, or bag is not clean (unless of course the ingrediants are nothing but whole and natural real food ingrediants). The best thing for clean eating is to shop the perimiter of your supermarket. Everything in the aisles are pretty much processed. Hope this helps I strive to eat clean 85% of the time. ya special K, that cereal is really overrated.. there are better alternatives out there for cereal if thats what you enjoy, or just have something else for breakfast.. Also deli meat is a food people will tell you to avoid as well that I notice was in there, as well as anything your buying from the freezer isle (lean cuisine) you can have a better meal thats healthier from fresh ingredients. Of course I would also try to net above 1200 I notice some days your under that.
I see outback steakhouse, but no blooming onion.. disappointed in that day of logging..0 -
Sorry. There's nothing clean about Lean Cuisines or WW's frozen entrees.
But it looks like you're making a decent effort. More fresh food, less packaged food.0 -
The basic idea of eating clean is avoiding processed and packaged foods. You're doing fairly well, but I would focus more on fresh and whole foods, making whatever you can from scratch, and trying to eat foods that are as close to what they'd look like naturally as possible. I hope that helps!0

Everyone has a different definition of what "eating clean" means. I, for example, would not consider flavored yogurts to be clean. Too much sugar. I get plain yogurt and add fresh fruit and maybe a drizzle of honey.
I don't think anyone out there would consider frozen WW entrees or Lean Cuisine to be "eating clean". But it really all depends on what you are trying to accomplish by eating clean. If it's just about weight loss, I don't really see these as a problem.0 -
No, that's not eating clean. But that doesn't matter.
What matters is that your calories are coming up short every day.0 -
If you bought it in a box it is not clean eating.0

YES! shop the perimeter of the store (produce and meat counters). Some frozen veggies are okay. The more ingredients listed on a product, the less likely you should be eating it. If you can't recognize it or pronounce it, you shouldn't' eat it either. Basically, you'll be "cooking from scratch".0 -
For the lean cuisines, if you like them for the convenience, I spend a day on the weekend and make casseroles and put them into individual serving sizes and freeze them. Just grab and go for lunch or if the fam is eating something I can't. It is a little more work but its all fresh homemade ingredients.0

read ingrediants of everything and if it does not have 5 or less. its a NO. If you cannot make it your self with ingredients it is a no.. those are some of the basic rules.. IF you dont know what it is.. NO.0
