I gained last week and trying not to let it get to me

Well, I gained 3/4 lb last week and I'm bummed! I really thought I'd have a loss again since I've been working so hard. I know it's probably muscle weight because I've been running and started doing weight training but I was on such a great roll - I lost for 6 weeks in a row and wanted to reach my goal of 8 weeks or more.

So what do you do when you have a setback (aside from drowning your tears in ice cream)?

I have the same problem I went up .6 lbs since last week, I have lost 6 lbs, in almost a month, 5 lbs the first week, I should be down another 3. But I am trying not to let it get to me, I am hoping things will change in time. I just to get my goal weight by Nov. 2013, sooner would be better though.

Seriously, dont let fractions of pounds get to you. The body is strange. You can retain water or gain fractions of pounds one day or one week then the next week you lose more than you did 2 weeks before.

I have been doing MFP for 5 months. There was one week for some bizarre reason that I gained 2 lbs. I was so upset. I didnt go over my calories not one single day. I was seriously good. I didnt understand it. When I weighed myself the following week I had lost 3 lbs. The body just has its own way of dealing with things sometimes.

On average i was losing 1 lb to 1.5 lbs a week. Then all of the sudden I was losing 2 lbs a week every week for 3 weeks straight. Again, I followed my calorie intake and was very well behaved. The 4th week and stayed the same---no change. Now this 5th week I only lost one pound.

The point is, its never going to be exact. Some weeks you will have better weight loss results than others. Just keep doing what you are supposed to do without deviating from your plan and you will continue to succeed.

I still hope to see those 2 lbs but if I only see one pound, or no pounds, i know it doesnt mean the next week will be the same.

i know the feeling...week before last i only pulled a 4.1 loss and last week i plussed .6 of a lb. extremely frustrating. dont know what the deal is.. specially since i doubled my efforts the last couple of weeks. unless im having a muscle and water gain or something of that nature....

im just sticking with my routine and maybe try and double my efforts.. maybe workout a little longer at the gym..maybe get a couple more laps in when i walk...dont know but its a start.

I personally have a big problem with sodium. So I know if eat something that even though its not high in calorie but it is high in sodium when I weigh I am going to weigh heavy as much as 2 lbs. At those times I will retain water and then it seems as if it all flushes out and I am heading in the right direction again.

I guess what I am saying is stay the healthy course it will pay off in the end. Don't worry so much about a dip her or there. Worry more about what you have put into your body and the work that you are doing to perfect it.

Same. Some wise MFP posters once said that weight loss is not linear. She posted her weight loss report and it was full of ups and downs on her definite downward trend. We pay too much attention to the scale. A few drinks, some high sodium foods, eating out, T.O.M. and increasing exercise all have an immediate effect on my scale! Overall, these ups and downs work themselves out in the long run when we keep tracking and staying within our limits. Keep your eye on the big picture! I keep telling myself that 1 lb of weight gain requires 3500 extra calories. I know that I haven't eaten an extra 14000 calories this week!!

First: 3/4 lb? Three-fourths!? I can "lose" 3 lbs just by going swimming for 20 minutes and then sitting in the sauna for a bit. Of course I "gain" that back by the end of the day. Anything less than 5 lbs is exactly 0 lbs, unless it becomes part of a measurable trend.

Second: This is totally awesome. Good luck!
