Need help acting yet disguising my age
So In March I have a conference out of town. I have a co-worker who is dead set on going clubbing. I have not set foot in a club in 12 years. I'm OK with going with the flow but haven't a clue on what is appropriate to wear. I am married with 2 kids and 35 years old. I want to look like I'm not on the market or kidding myself but I don't want people to ask my co-worker why she brought her mom. I was thinking a shiny Dolman top with black leggings and heals... But I'm 12 years out of touch. HELP!!!

"Co-worker... this is your opportunity to play dress up with a real life barbie doll."
Give her some clothes to choose from, let her do your hair and makeup... done and done. It's a lot of fun.0 -
Clubs are lame, suggest a pub or a karaoke bar instead.
If you must go, I would wear a dress, but if that's not your thing then I suggest leggings (or skinny jeans) with knee high boots and a cute tank top.0 -
There is nothing you can do. You are going to stick out like a sore thumb. If I saw you trembling in some corner hiding behind some big, bright drink with an umbrella in it, I would go and torture you with meaningless sexual innuendoes just to watch you squirm.
Best thing you can do is get blitzed before you even go to the club and act like a complete idiot...just like everyone else. And if you do a good enough job, you won't remember a damn thing the next day.0 -
Oh Dear!
Well it would take the blame off me. If pics turned up I could blame my co-worker0 -

Even better idea.0 -
Ugh clubs suck.
I've been of legal drinking age for 4 years, and have stepped foot in a club once...only because friends dragged me there. I walked out 10 minutes later.0 -
wear what you feel comfortable in and don't forget your ring (not that you would). Don't be a bia to anyone who tries to talk to you, but don't take their drinks, unless you actually watch it being made...0

Holy cow you are only 35 that isn't old. Just because you have kids doesn't make you dead. Wear what makes you feel good. You will stand out more if you "dress up" and are tugging and uncomfortable in your clothes.0

For now, quit stressing You have months, why drive yourself crazy for so long?0

You would stand there holding your balls in hand, you know THAT woman. The one with the chip on her shoulder wishing some guy would approach her just so she can reduce him to less than what he was before. No ma'am, save your eye liner for someone else.0 -
I've got a lot of down time at work.0

lol! Well played sir! You so funny! *blows kiss*0 -
please you are NOT old... I prefer a lounge but if you must hit up the club keep it simple! Black dress, pumps and accessories, easy on the makeup, sometimes less is more and just have fun! Screw what everyone thinks.0

Ha!I spin @ the Palms here in Vegas but come to think of it I haven't really been to many clubs outside of being paid to be there. All I see from my booth is over dressed sweaty people trying to dance..But I do see a lot of skirts and borderline hookers..but hey it's Vegas!Have Fun!0

1: Act your age
2: Wear whats comfortable for you. You are there as company to a workmate, not to get laid.
3: Keep your back to the wall and spot all exits early.0 -

You'd be surprised at the age of people who still go clubbing.
My suggestion
Jeans/slacks will be perfectly fine, unless you can totally rock the leggings, leave them at home. I've seen few people actually rock them.
express has cute tops.
Going basic on make up is perfectly fine.
Catch up on current club music a few weeks before you go so you'll know what you'll be hearing and won't get caught off guard. Some of it is actually pretty good.
On to "looking married"
As my friend said to me at the bar the other night when I forgot to put my ring back on "Oh... I don't think you need to worry about that" As we were the last two leaving this dude Jeremy starts talking to me, he was HAMMERED. Don't sweat it, ring or not people might talk to you unless you give of a rigid unfriendly vibe.0 -
Well it depends on the club of course - my and my old friends still hit up a club now and then and I'm older than you. We usually go to the gay bar though so maybe it is a different crowd. Wear something you feel comfortable in. I liked the skinny jean, tank & boots suggestion (except my feet would be hot) skip the stripper heels that make your feet hurt so bad you want to cry after 10 minutes.0

Your shiny top with non-mon jeans and heels would be great. Then get your sexy self on the dance floor and show them youngins how it's done. :drinker:0

uh....I'll be 35 in December and I still go clubbing quite often. Just go have fun. It's not the prom.0
-
just wear whatever is comfortable evening wear for you. dont try to be anything you're not.
90% of the people in clubs are just standing there with the people they came with. dont worry too much. lol.0 -
Wear what you like... I dress like a 25 year old and feel absolutely confident doing so. I'm 36. Just try to relax and enjoy yourself... and leave when you're completely bored out of your mind or sick of the kids0

Mwhahahaha! Love it! :-D I'd love to see it :-D0 -
Well i cant advise on what to wear, but i will offer a thought regarding hiding your age...Don't hide it, celebrate it! You are by no means old (especially from my perspective, lol) and you are no doubt wiser to the world than many of those who will be at the club, so kick back, don't stress it, and if some young dudes want to spend their money and buy you overpriced drinks...enjoy!0
