I wouldn't put a lot of stock in the advice offered by a guy who is a proponent of raw veganism.0
-
I think it's good food for thought. I studied amino acids and enzymes and, while they are important for digestion, I don't know how much I believe about them being able to replace protein. He sounds like he would be willing to shoot enzymes up his veins if it meant not having to eat protein. I believe raw foods are healthy beyond measure, but I don't think they can replace meat, because I am a hardcore omnomnomnivore and am not willing to give up my diet for raw fruits and veggies. But I do think he's on to something as far as the value of raw foods! They're definitely undervalued in our system currently and getting to the point of realizing this could be very helpful.0

He looks alright to me so I'd say he's on to something.0

He's correct about protein being broken down into amino acids and then it Being the amino acids that actually build muscle however his point is irrelevant unless you happen to follow his style of diet.
Guess which sources of food are highest in amino acids ....chicken, beef, eggs, whey protein etc. Not to mention the other vitamins and minerals you get from consuming these foods.
Why eat the middle man? Because I chose to and it tastes great, that's why.
As far as him saying "I have too much muscle" and "I build muscle doing nothing"........................lol, just.........lol. I couldn't take him seriously after that.0 -
I thought it was pretty good! I've been on a juice feast, on my 6th day. Drinking juice, all day, nothing but juice. The question I get is, how about your protein? Aren't you worried? Not in the least...but up till several years ago I would say the VERY SAME thing to people who were vegan. Knowledge is power. Good to study up on things and not be swayed by what has been popular for year but yet it's killing people left and right.0

Worst feast ever.0 -
These forums are seriously hilarious. I laugh at half the posts people throw up on here... people need to do some research. A juice feast is the stupidest thing I have ever heard. Juice is just high in sugar adding pretty much nothing substantial to your diet. Low sodium V8 is a good "juice" and blended fruits and vegetables are good juices too, in moderation. But they do not provide you with the proper carbs you need, let alone the lack of protein and fat necessary for an effective diet. You people amaze me.0

Ok.. Interesting post Sharon.. but I am in agreement with healthynotthin and Hendrix7.. and along with my doctors and Nutritionists. "The protein fad".. Has been taking to a stupid lvl though... All the drinks and whatnot.. But protein is very very important.. coupled with veggies/fruits and healthy fats.. The reason you eat the protein is... (and the guy Tim.. even said it.. lol) Takes a longer time to break down.. YES! We need that.. the reason is.. Keeps you full, longer!! so you aren't going and eating all in site! Feeds your muscles and helps with curbing the "raving hunger!"
You do build muscles from exercising.. but the fuel is very important.. atm.. my doctors and nuts say.. 60 to 80 protein per day.. coupled with veggies/fruit carbs.. to balance the protein.. then healthy fats.. to add to the mix.. with some fiber.. and a few whole grains..
It works for me. And I know that the juicing works for you.. so I completely support ya. Everyone has there own path.. and I support yours.. My job isn't to judge or whatever.. Is juicing for me? Nope.. because I have seen the bad side to it..after people have stopped juicing.. But it is working for you!! and I am proud of you!!!! and knowledge is power!!! the more knowledge we gain.. The more power we have to fight the disease of obesity...
It's not just the food in.. but the thought's that back it up.. What I got from the vid.. is that he is passionate about how he feels.. and he is living the lifestyle that not only works for him.. but one that he LOVES.. and when you love how you feel and what you are doing.. You want to share it to the world.. Is he right? Some of it is.. and most of it is passion...
Thanks for sharing Sharon. Love ya my sweet friend!0 -

Gotta add to this... Dude.. the "proper carbs" are in Veggies and Fruit... the natural carbs that feed the protein.. like sugar feeds yeast in bread.. (sorry.. I am a baker.. lol) Whole grains are good.. but in very small amounts... TBH.. all foods BUT veggies, should be in moderation.. Insulting someones "path" or trying to find more knowledge.. is the stupid thing here... Funny how I almost never go on the forums.. But only when a dear personal friend posts...
I agree with it has to be a balance... there is nothing "balanced" in making annoying remarks on someones path.. that has nothing to do with yours... Are you doing it? Juicing? Have you cured the disease of obesity? Because I am pretty pro at what to eat.. and I am grateful for Ladyfingers here... Because she is looking for more knowledge to share with us.. Again.. Thank you Sharon for your footwork!!0 -
I didn't mind the video. I think that raw foods are very beneficial. I also am a fan of cooked foods. I try to eat a good combo of both.0

At 30 seconds in he claims he doesn't eat nuts, seeds, soy or legume and yet on his site this is his favorite post workout smoothie
My personal favorite organic smoothie recipe:
2 ripe bananas
6 large dates
2 tablespoons Nutiva hemp seeds
1 tablespoon flax seeds
1 tablespoon dulse flakes
1 dash cinnamon
2 cups filtered water
seems like a big contradiction to me.
http://nutritiondata.self.com/facts/custom/629104/2 (lots of protein in hemp)
http://nutritiondata.self.com/facts/nut-and-seed-products/3163/2 (and in flax)0 -
When you don't get enough protein and enough fat, your cells suffer. They're called essential amino acids for a reason. Can't wait to see this guy in the years to come.0
