Our group at work is eating out at a "pub" on Wednesday for lunch and I need suggestions on what to eat. I'd like to keep my meal at 500 calories or under and I am having a hard time picking something. Any suggestions would be very much appreciated! The menu is: http://www.lyonspub.com/menu

I would have either the Asian Chicken Salad (with dressing on the side) or the Soup and Salad Combo.

Either way whatever you choose, hope you have a nice lunch :)

I guess the asian chicken salad would be a good option? Ask for the dressing on the side so you can just use a little :) That should be within 500 cals.

The salad says the chicken is "breaded" which likely means it is also fried. I would eat a small portion of what your really want while staying away from deep fried foods and burgers. If it was me I would get the bacon and swiss chicken sandwich but ask for it on multi grain bread. Salad instead of fries. Prob more like 650 calories thought but you don't have to eat it all.

First thing that caught my eye was the Naked Chicken Tenders and Veggie plate. 2nd choice depending on the soup options would be the soup/salad combo. If the Teriyaki chicken sandwich isn't breaded that would be my 3rd choice (skip the bun or only eat the bottom - have it w/a salad instead of fries).

This is what I thought too.

The Naked Chicken Tenders basically hawk that they're not breaded. Teriyaki might be a little high in sodium, but if you back off from the blue cheese dip you'll end up below 500.

The chicken tenders should be OK, but if you are hungry, I would get the prime rib - eat the meat and give the bun a miss. Get a green salad with dressing on the side to go with it and you'll have a delicious lunch with lots of nutrition and hopefully not too many extra cals that you can't see.

Or the teriyaki chicken sandwich, ask for no dressing and only eat half the bun.
  • Thanks for your suggestions! I ended up going with the Soup & Salad. The soup was beer cheese soup (it was a cup and I ate 3/4ths of the cup) and the salad had cheese, lettuce, cucumber, and tomato (which I didn't finish all of, but close enough). I ate a dinner roll, too and had a diet coke. It was delicious! Using some best guesses of already logged MFP foods, I think this was under 350 calories.

Dinner Salad With Cheese - Lettuce Cucumber Tomato Onion Carrot, 1 Salad: 64 calories
    Erbert & Gerbert's - Beer Cheese Soup, 0.75 CUP: 105 calories
Franco American Bakery- - Dinner Roles, 1 role: 75 calories
    Coca-Cola - Diet Coke w/ lime: 0 calories
Generic - Oil & Vinegar Dressing, 1 Tbsp: 75 calories

I was going to say the appetizer sampler. KIDDING.

Honestly I think the chicken caesar wrap would have been my choice.
