How do you manage STRESS?

By completing my food diary I have come to the realisation that, for me, there is a link between eating and stress. In response to some stressors, such as relationship break-up, I can find myself feeling so full that I don't eat. Whereas with other triggers, worry, work, feeling inadequate, I find that I binge, often on high sugar foods. I would like to manage my stress in a much more constructive and effective way and would value hearing what strategies others have used that have worked. Thank you for reading this post.

I have one way of managing stress. If you can change things to make things less stressful, do it now, then it is off your mind. If you can't change things then forget it. You can't do anything about the outcome anyway.
I know it is not so easy for some people to manage stress but my husband who was in the forces said to me "you know nothing about stress. Until you are relying on another person litarally watching your back whilst you are watching his and if he makes a mistake, you are dead - that's stress". I think about this now and he was right. Most things work themselves out in the end and were not as bad as you thought. Don't let things get you down that really don't matter
I know a break up of marriage can be stressful. I have been there. My thoughts on that are get slim and knock them dead. Get out there and enjoy being single again. I did and found my lovely husband. So go for it and start to feel better about yourself. It is not easy but you can do it. It is all about getting your mind in gear as well as your body.

I'm totally agreed with 2essie. If you can do something - do it, if you can do nothing - so why to worry? Life shows that all that is happening happens for a reason and everything will be alright after a while.
Food is not the answer. At least it should not be. I know, it's hard to do but if you replace you stress food with some other thing you'll surely feel better. Try a new activity, read some new book, try what you never tried before!
There's the second way. Allow yourself to get stressed (eat whatever you want including high sugar foods, fast food, a lot of fries and so on) for 1 or 2 days. After that start all over. Do not say "tomorrow", set a fixed date and this day will be a new start.
Stress is primarily in your mind. But if your body get "stressed" too (if you train a lot or incraise your level of adrenalin) your mind relaxes. Find something you can totally focus on and do it. Good luck!0
