CARB-AHOLIC

I love carbs! Plain and simple. I just started MFP 8 days ago and I have been at or under my 1200 calorie goal every day, BUT my carbs are not always under my goal. How important is it to keep your carbs in check if you are under your calorie goal? I am a Lifetime WW member and so am very familiar with their old program. I was successful with it, but I never had to count carbs...just calories, fat and fiber. I like this plan and love the site, but I have only lost 1.5 lbs this week and on WW I would have lost at least 4-5 the first week. Feeling a little frustrated.

I'd say as long as you are at least hitting your protein and fat targets, eat all the carbs you want. I get at least 100g of protein most days, come within a few grams of my fat goal, and have a ton of carbs - it helps that even on a light day, I hit over 2000 calories though. On 1200, you are going to have to eat a lot more on point to make sure you are covering all your bases.0

In order to lose weight you may either need to cut out carbs OR fat...or just focus on cutting out bad carbs and bad fats...
I think what matters the most is which one you think you will be able to sustain for the long-term, because weight loss is a long term goal.0 -
I think that you need to look at what kind of carbs you are eating. Try to stick to high fiber, low sugar alternatives or low glycemic index foods. The fiber is more filling and it takes more calories for your body to process it. I only buy whole wheat bread, hot dog buns, hamburger buns, etc. after a while even the kids thought white bread didnt taste as good as the whole wheat. It is just making it the norm. Of course, I will also say that this is easy for me to say as my trigger is protein. I am the ultimate carnivore and yet my pear shape means I need a low fat diet.0
