Your Ultimate Life Goal?

Is there one or two huge, crazy things you want to do in your life before you die? Something that, if you tell people about it, they would think you're smoking something? I do... I'd have to sacrifice a lot to do either of them. If you do, what are they?

I want to climb a mountain...I don't have a certain one in mind but I read about different mountains all the time to see which one I would want to climb.....When I say it to anyone they think I'm nuts....

Catch a fish in all 50 states, and all species of black bass.

I have caught 4 different species of black bass in the same day before...so there is that.

I guess when you live in Colorado, hiking up a mountain IS a simple joy! I don't think you're crazy to have a goal like that. Get out there and do it!

The ultimate purpose of my life is to help people, no doubt about it. I don't care if it's by giving them a shoulder to cry on, encouraging them through a situation they've deemed impossible, or just stepping up to the plate and helping with whatever needs to be done. If I can make someone happy or know that I've made a difference in their life, I honestly can't ask for anything better.

I want to ride a bicycle across Canada, from coast to coast, to coast. That, and/or live on a sailboat and spend my life sailing around the world...

I want to cheat death and live forever. But barring that I'll aim for being happy in my home, work and personal life.
  • Mmmmyeaah......mine is actually to HAVE an ultimate life goal (Oops :P)
  • I want to be happy, and have my family happy, healthy and to live life to the fullest. I want my family to be free of financial struggle and worry about the important things in life instead :)

And I want to visit Machu Picchu!!
And sky dive, and fly a plane and drive a racecar.
    Haha keep dreamin', right?

This is my life goal also. I don't think it gets more ultimate than that.

There's nothing stopping you from doing these things but yourself. If you dedicate yourself to it, anything is possible.

I'd like to spend maybe 10 years traveling the world. And I'm not independently wealthy so it'll be the challenge of my lifetime to figure out how to make it happen. My husband isn't too keen on the idea either...

My ideal life would be to live in a small cottage in the woods in the US for 6 months out of the year (my husband is down with this part). And then travel for 6 months (we'll be able to travel 3 months out of the year at least, he's about to become a school teacher once he finishes up the degree), spending at least a month in each place.

That's a good one. I've heard it before. I didn't know it was John Lennon who said it.

I'ave always put my happiness first. There's no point in doing something if you don't enjoy it. I would rather die poor and happy than rich and miserable...

"If you ain't happy broke, you won't be happy rich. You'll spend your life in misery chasing after it." ~ Classified.

I've spent a lot of my life being happy, but now I desire more. I want to take what I feel is the step above being happy. I want to do something great, so I can look back and say "I did that."

I understand that everyone says that they want to be happy and well.....don't we all.....When you asked the question I think you were asking for Goals and Dreams....It's funny because if I were to ask my husband this question he would also answer..."to be happy".

He is the most amazing man and my best friend - we have been married for 24 years and have a 20 year old daughter and 17 year old son who make us incredibly proud. But I have always been the dreamer. I am the one is has now gotten us to go to Jamaica 6 times to work in an orphanage for disabled children...I am the one who planned our trip to New York and Oregon and California and Florida...I am the one who went up to our Governor yesterday and asked him if he would come over and meet my husband..I am the one who grabs a quilt and a lunch to take in the woods for a picnic....And all the while he absolutely has loved every minute of all of our adventures....he just doesn't think about it. He is content to just be happy - and believe me I do absolutely love that about him as well.....We balance each other out perfectly.

So yes although I think our goal is to be happy I think setting goals and having dreams makes us live more life than we ever could have imagined possible....There is a whole world out there waiting to be explored...

    I like how you think!

I feel being happy is a mindset. You can do it in any situation. Anything that happens to you, if you have the mindset to be happy, you will be. So what do you do after that? I am happy now, so am I just going to float through life being happy? I guess some that floats a lot of people's boats, but you don't need to sacrifice anything to do that. I don't feel it's a huge accomplishment to simply be happy. Just how I feel about it. Nothing personal.

Just smile, look on the bright side of things.

So Chivalryder - give me your list of crazy things...

Here is what is on my wipeoff board right now.

    * I am running 5 5Ks by the end of the year (2 more left)
    * I am signed up for Vegas Rock and Roll Marathon on Dec 2 (This will be my 5th half marathon and I am so not an athlete - very slow)
    * On November 1 my goal is to climb the stairs of the Sears Tower and take a photo at the top (right now I am doing 1500 flights a month to train - which is torture)
    * My ultimate goal is to run a full marathon next year...I'm scared to write it down though because I know how tired I am after 13.1

****Goals and dreams I'm proud I have accomplished in other words things crossed off my bucket list***
    Those 4 half marathons
    Bungee Jumped
Started a nonprofit organization for disabled kids in Jamaica
Returned to school and got my Associates after being a stay at home mom for 15 years

Sooooo was that the kind of crazy things you were talking about????....LOL..

I guess my problem is that I have accomplished the big goals I had previously set for myself and I've never come up with anything else. I would love to go to Burning Man. Most people think that's pretty crazy. Otherwise, I guess I'm pretty boring because I don't have a wild bucket list. I try to live an interesting life every day and always try new things, but I never want to be disappointed if I can't fulfill a big crazy dream.

  • Mine aren't that extreme. But I always wanted to ride a mechanical bull and learn how to surf. They're at the top of my bucket list

Ok, ok! How an I say no to someone who has such great goals and has already accomplished some amazing things!?

I want to take a European bike tour...someday...
I want to sing on stage in front of people (not in a karaoke bar, been there, done that)

Good start? It's funny this topic came up because last night my daughter told me me need to sit down and write our bucket lists.

No real goals as far as doing an Ironman, or running a 100-mile race, or something like that. I just try to enjoy it one day at a time and not screw it up. But you know what they say "Bad decisions make good stories"!
  • I want to work on Broadway.
