What is your daily goal for sugar?

15 grams of sugar, MFP?? I ate a medium banana and a handful of almonds (approx 8 unsalted almonds) and I am now 1 gram over my sugar goal for the day but still obviously have a lot of calories to go.
I’m not really a major sweet tooth. I don’t eat candy etc. So I’m not totally sure what an actual good amount of sugar is. But 15 grams for the day seems very low to me. If I eat literally anything else, I am probably going to end up way over 15 by the end of the day.
Is it just me or is 15 grams really low? Most days, MFP sets me to higher and I don’t go over. No clue why today it decided 15 was the goal. My exercise this AM was exactly the same 25 minute brisk walk that I did yesterday morning too.
Is this just a glitch? Should I manually change the goal? If so, what’s a good amount?

This is something I was just thinking about.. .in general I sort of ignore my sugar count because it doesn't separate the natural sugars from the more harmful ones, like high fructose corn syrup. I once heard about a system in which you sort of calculate your allowable *natural* sugar, like the the fructose found in bananas, based on your fat, fiber and protein intake but I can't exactly remember how it went.
I guess, for now, I'll continue to ignore the sugar limit but still try and minimize my intake. I aim for a diet that pretty much eliminates all added sugar that isn't found in whole foods.0 -

So you never eat fruit? Even my handful of almonds had a gram of sugar in them.0 -
...to not give a **** about it.0

I don't track my sugar because MFP doesn't separate natural sugars. If you want to manually keep track of added sugars in things like cereal, you can do that, but otherwise I'd ignore that particular guideline and just assume that moderation is the key. It certainly hasn't held me back any.0

I can't remember without going back and looking what my daily sugar allowance from MFP is, but I know that I am over it pretty much every day. I just ignore it, because I almost never eat anything with added sugar. So virtually all of my sugar comes from fruit or other natural sources. I have lost quite a bit of weight, and my lab work is great, so it seems to not be hurting me.0

I agree it's way too low. That's the one column I ignore. Like you I eat fruits and nuts and other healthy foods that have sugar.0

Memorial Day 2012 I took myself off all processed foods that have high High Frutcose Corn syrup and switched over to Agave Sweetner which is all natural(from a plant) and keeps my sugar levels stable, therefore I don't get those "hunger pangs" anymore.0
