Diet and fitness while sick with a cold?

I'm not hungry and everything tastes bland or bad. I want to eat enough and stay healthy, but the only things that sound remotely good are Kraft mac&cheese, and pizza and I really don't want all of those carb heavy cals.... I might do soup, but it would have to be canned, because I don't have the energy to go to the store and then cook my own

I feel like just laying around, but maybe I should get up and try and work out for a short while? Get the blood moving and sweat some of the toxins out of my body?

I know one day doesn't matter too much, but sometimes a cold lasts a while...

You won't catch my cold just by responding lol. That's ok. I'll just do my best.

Either you do it, or you dont. The choice is yours.

Thank you for all of the advice about things that taste good when you are sick and whether or not a workout makes you feel better when you are sick! Extremely helpful of you.

I've always been told by a few trainers at the bootcamp I addend that "if the symptoms are above the neck then it's fine to work out but if they are below the neck then take some time off to recover". Also, don't work out with a fever. Working out raises body temp and that's not good when it's already high. Please remember that when you're sick....it's OK to take a day or two off from working out. Sometimes we forget that it's OK to rest and that it's an important part of being healthy also.

I had flu and it wiped me out for a week and then took another week to recover. I didn't do any exercise during those 2 weeks so it gave my body time to recover. I lost my sense of smell and taste which was a bonus really cause eating became such a bore. Anyway, I did eat more comfort foods than usual (bread etc) but I still lost 1kg. Try to eat healthy but if you want comfort food then eat it in moderation. Give your body a few days off at least and then ease back into it - I busted my butt at the gym and ended up with my first ever migraine. Our bodies are not totally invincible.

I know how you feel, have had a cold for 3 days and it sucks :(
On the first day I walked 6miles and did a boxing circuit thinking I could sweat it out and it helped until today where I had to cancel 2 gym classes and stay in bed most of the day because I felt way too ill.
Have a canned soup with a bit of pepper in it and wrap up warm. Try having freshly squeezed lemon, a teaspoon of honey and either a shot white rum or brandy warm in the microwave for a few seconds and that should help you sweat it out.
Drink loads of water and herbal teas as it will help flush the toxins out of your body.
Hope you fell better soon :flowerforyou:
