Lightbulb moments are important!

Thanks to a wonderful pal on MFP, I had a revelation today...a lightbulb moment if you will. After years and years of having a love/hate relationship with food, I think I have finally figured out why I have continually turned to food as my source of comfort. I lost my father at the very young age of 14 and was forced to grow up far ahead of my time. For 30 years of my existence, I have lacked a strong support system that will encourage me, help me, and guide me through good times and bad. In return, I have turned to food for comfort to fill the void that I have needed all of my life. So now, I am ending this relationship with food. This breakup is necessary and will lead me to be a stronger person both mentally and physically!!! I am so glad that my eyes have finally been opened and I now know what needs to be done.
Anyone else have a revelation that they would like to share??

I am REALLY happy for you and it is inspiring for me! I think it is amazing that you had this revelation. You really have gone through a lot so it would be understandable to seek support somewhere. I have this problem where I cope with eating and it is usually the wrong kinds of food. I like your idea of a break-up. Good luck with your journey!!!0
