Non stop cravings..

I've had non stop cravings for chocolate cookies in particular for the past few weeks. I've been craving sweets all the time. I've been giving in to the cookies.. I have about 3-4 cookies at one sitting. Which is odd for me, since early on in my weight loss I never had cravings such as these. And if I did I'd fight the cravings and move on. It isn't my TOM. (That was last week..)
I don't know. I just feel really weak when I give into those temptations. It's really wracking up my calorie intake and I've noticed I'm gaining a little bit of weight. I think.
How do I try to regain strength so that I can overcome these temptations? What might my body really be wanting?

Your body isn't wanting anything sneaky - it wants biscuits. And that's fine! You just need to be careful to balance a) having a wee snack that you enjoy and makes you happy and b) not snacking too often or in too large a portion. I find tea with a sweetener stops me craving chocolate biscuits as much as I used to.0

I have gotten to the point of not restricting myself... I moderate myself But I eat to fuel, so I have enough room in my daily intake for something I want.
Like tonight, I ate a whole hershey's special dark bar... and it was so delicious :drinker:
BUT, if if you are eating low cals and are trying to avoid those things, artificial sweeteners trigger the sweet tooth... so if you are drinking diet soda or whatever, you may find yourself craving cookies and candy and cake and giving in because the cravings get to be pretty intense.0 -
I've also heard just drinking a glass of water and waiting 10 min could do the trick as well. Since I'm never hungry when I want a cookie.. it just is something that makes me happy in that moment.. but makes me feel regretful when I overeat them at the end.0

Yes this does help! I am a night time eater and if I'm hungry before bed, I TRY to remember this before going on an all out binge, cuz thats what'll happen to me!!! (I'm all or nothing)0 -

Dont forget you are not alone! When you are eating those 3 cookies... think of me eating 3 bowls of oatmeal, a bowl of honey bunches of oats, 3 string cheeses and the candy i dug out of the back of the catch-all drawer in the kitchen :drinker: :drinker: :drinker:0 -
It's cuz your happy and your mood is being outgoing rite now. Which is why u crave sweets0

I get that too! Even straight after breakfast I want sweets! (like right now!)
The thing is, when I eat a bit, like you, I then get a bit demotivated and just have loads and then you feel even worse, hence the cycle!
You have to allow yourself a little bit as a treat, plan it in maybe and we won't feel so guilty!0 -
I have quite the cookie addiction, hence my profile name. One thing that has really helped me is Options Hot Chocolate. It is like 40 calories and really stops the craving as its sweet and delicious.0

Can you compromise a little and make it two? As long as you can fit it into your calories or you can exercise to earn it, a couple of cookies won't kill you...If it feels like you are compulsively eating the cookies, maybe it would be better not to bring them in to the house. You can't eat what you don't have.0 -
It sounds like you're just low on energy and is craving a quick burst of sugar.
Try taking only one cookie out of the cupoboard and then rolling the packet up and putting it away, then going to sit down and eat it. I find that if the packet's beside me, I'll eat it, but if I take out a portion and put the packet away, I'll eat the portion and that'll be enough.
If you don't want to eat cookies, I heard that putting vanilla essence on your hand and smelling that takes away cravings - although I've never tried it so can't say if it works or not!0 -
All valid points. I still live with my parents, right? And my mom always brings home those 50ct cookies from Safeway. And I can go the whole day without wanting one. But then around 4pm, just as I'm thinking about making my dinner I see those cookies and I give in. I take one. Sit back down on the couch in the other room. Eat it. Then I just keep getting up for more.
I've tried to tell my mom to maybe stop buying them because they are enabling us all to eat poorly, but she won't budge.
I really just have to do this for myself. Maybe I'll hide them. Out of sight out of mind right?0 -
craving are like waves they come and go throughout the day. just wait for the craving to go, or have fun in moderation.0
