Hey im on a 40 grams of carbs a day iv had 37 this morning with my porridge and I'm stuck wa I can eat with no carbs in now pleaseeee pleasee help ahha xx

Here's a list that might help you a little.
"Cow beef and veal
Pork
Lamb
Fowl - turkey, chicken, duck, goose, cornish hen, quail, etc.
Seafood - mollusks such as clams and oysters
Seafood - shellfish such as lobster, shrimp, squid, and crab
Seafood - all other types of freshwater and saltwater fish, such as catfish, bass, salmon, tuna, trout, flounder, halibut
Game meats such as deer (venison), bison, ostrich, caribou, etc.
Organs of animals, such as heart, tongue, kidneys, brain, liver, etc.
Eggs
Be aware that processed, packaged meats such as hot dogs, sausage, etc. can have some carbs due to added flavoring and preservatives.
In addition to meats, some condiments and seasonings also have no carbs:
Various oils such as olive oil, avocado oil, grapeseed oil, soybean oil, corn oil, peanut oil, safflower oil, sunflower oil
Salt, ground cinnamon, vinegar, many hot sauces, mixed seasonings such as Mrs. Dash
Yellow mustard
Whole olives
Animal fats including lard and fish oil
Vegetable shortening
Butter substitutes like margarine
Other foods with no carbs:
Salt
Cheddar cheese, parmesan cheese, meunster cheese, camembert cheese, American pasteurized processed cheese
Heavy whipping cream
Regular mayonnaise
Zero-carb beverages such as sodas
Butterhead lettuce
Artificial sweeteners
Dry gelatin
Gin, rum, vodka, whiskey
Water, coffee, and tea if nothing is added"

Why are you eating low carb? Unless you plan on cutting carbs for life, you'll regain any lost weight (which will mostly be water weight) once you reintroduce carbs or inevitably binge-out on carbs! Eat in moderation. I lost four stone (50lbs) eating between 150g and 200g per day! Fruit, veg, oats, wholegrain bread, brown rice, brown pasta (or sometimes even the white versions!) quinoa (also full of protein) cous cous, rye crisp breads, potatoes etc...all great foods!
Non-carb foods are primarily meat, dairy products etc.0 -

Chicken has very little carbs, turkey.. other lean meats. That's about all you'll get when it comes to food with NO carbs.
But also, 40 is way too low and you'll rarely have any energy to exercise. But I'm sure you've gotten enough criticism for being a low-carber already. Also, if you go over by a little bit, it's not going to hurt you at all.

I do low carb. about 30-40grams a day and I have MORE energy now than ever. I work out about 30-60 minutes a day depending on what I do. It definitely helped me lose weight and today I had mashed potatoes for lunch. I'm not gonna gain it all back y'all.
OP, stick with cheeses and meats the rest of the day0 -
40 is on the low side. But if that's what you want to try I'd definitely rethink the porridge. Since you've already eaten that, I wouldn't get too stressed about the rest of today, but make a better plan for tomorrow.

Also, next time, just don't eat such a carby breakfast? That way you won't have to restrict so much for the rest of the day.0

Come back and tell me that in ten years timeI also have more energy than ever and work out 30 - 60 minutes per day and am very close to goal weight...and I eat a TON of carbs.
At least this way is 100% sustainable and non-restrictive.0 -

Well I'm 23, and I'm sure a lot will change in ten years. For now, it's working, and that's all that matters. I also don't eat excessive amounts of fat, and have my own way of doing low carb. lol. I'm too much of a glutton to follow to a T.0 -

You'll find that out as you try different methods & read different things...every cell in the human brain runs on glucose & your body needs carbs for energy & for your organs to function properly, so I'd never advise low carb to anybody. Dr Atkins died overweight, after all. And by going low carb you cut out a lot of essential nutrients from foods like fruit! Weight loss is a journey though and you'll find what is right for you after playing around with your food and monitoring how you feel...write in the bottom right hand corner of your food diary how you feel each day then you can look back and see which foods improve your mood & don't cause you to go to bed starving x0 -

There is absolutely nothing wrong with low carb. It is most definitely sustainable and it is one way you can eat to stay at your calorie goal.
1. You still need to eat fewer calories than you take in. Since you're cutting out most carbs, you're left with fat and protein. These two things make you feel fuller longer, making it easier to not overeat.
2. It is healthy. I have been on less than 20g carb per day since the end of May. I haven't died, and if you look at my ticker, I'm also losing weight just fine. The only reason it wouldn't be healthy is if you have medical conditions that could be aggravated by low carb. Just as you should for any other dietary change, you'll need to consult your doctor before you begin.
3. Your body burns (including your brain) fat just as well a glucose.
4. Fruit is still an option if you have the carb/calorie allowance. Berries are full of antioxidants and fiber. Veggies are full of fiber as well. You're not going to miss out on anything that you can't get from other whole foods.
5. Low carb won't work for everyone. Sure, you'll lose weight, but if you're doing the "diet" just to drop pounds to turn around and go back to the way you used to eat, you'll gain it back. Just because SOME posters didn't have success, doesn't mean you won't.
6. It is sustainable. When most low carb dieters reach their maintenance weight, they slowly raise their carb allowance to fit a comfortable amount carbs into their diets. I do know that some keep on eating at 20g for years, and that's their preference.
It's a lifestyle change (from refined carbs to more whole foods) that many have benefited from. It's NOT just bacon and cheese. If you are able to lose weight just from counting calories alone, feel free to do so. If you are like me and one bite of something sugary will send you into a guilt-ridden binge, give it a try for a couple of weeks.
Edited to add: Oh yea. Stay away from anything with the Atkins brand. Those are sugar alcohol rich frankenfoods that stall most unsuspecting low-carber's weight loss.0 -

I'd agree with this. I have experimented with low carb dieiting in the past, and while you can get quick results in the short term, it is not feasible for me long term. Also, some studies show that in the end, most of the weight loss is water as well as some calorie reduction. That said, I have had success with low cab dieting for short periods.
If it works for you, then it works for you and I wouldn't tell you to stop doing something you are having success with. I will say that I am losing weight fine by just restricting calories as directed by MFP. I do tend to eat less carbs and more protien overall, but I don't restrict carbs by choice. And the carbs I do eat are quality carbs. I pretty much eat what I want these days. I just don't eat unlimited amounts of it.
Truth is, I am eating lots of fruits and vegetables these days along with about 100 grams of protein or more a day. Oddly enough, eating fruit has made a huge difference.
My main focus is nutrient density per calorie and I try to eat more foods with lower calorie density and high fiber. This seems to keep me full and keep the calories in check.

OP, i am currently following a LOWER carb (avg 30-80 NET carbs) diet plan that I have adjusted to suit my needs and I am loosing weight on it and enjoying my food more than I did before. yes i occasionally get a bit of an urge for specific carbs but they are easy enough to ignore and on the whole i don't feel like I am missing out, I also allow myself one meal a week that is higher in carbs and calories and I am currently learning how high i can go, i think last week I went a bit too high, but that is probably because I had two meals in one day that were high in carbs so i put a pound back on, but that soon shifted again so it wasn't the end of the world. the key to weight loss, and maintaining it is to find something that works for you, although all humans work on the same principles, we are all unique individuals with differing lifestyles, activity levels, food likes and dislikes etc etc so you really have to follow what works for YOU not what some guy on here told you to do (or girl or alien :-) ) that being said, feel free to give peoples suggestions a go and see if they work for you, that is the beauty of MFP, that we can all give and take a little from each others experiences. so anyway to cut a long ramble short, try having a lower carb breakfast in future and then the rest of the day stick to cheese, salad, vegetables (not legumes though) you subtract the dietary fibre from the total carbs in veg to get net carbs, green leafy veg are the best but do include some others for their nutritional benefit, meat and poultry. I don't eat meat meat, only poultry and fish btw and have found this more than doable so far.

My typical day...
8am - whey/oats
11am - chicken/peanut butter
2pm - salmon/peanut butter
5pm - Chicken/peanut butter
8pm - Eggs/peanut butter/rice cake
11pm - Whey and peanut butter
High in fats, low in carbs. Drop the rice cakes if you need from 8pm meal, but it works0 -
Eating low carb isn't feasible in the long run when your diet still has grains. If you're not eating wheat, oats, corn, etc, it's difficult to eat many of carbs. Non-starchy vegetables, proteins, and fats are all very low carb. A nice stir-fry or salad could be a great dinner! Try a breakfast with more protein and fat tomorrow so you don't run out so early :-)0

To the op, would you jump into a fire because some man you didn't know suggested you did? I would hope not, lol.
You need to find a diet that works for you, that is sustainable for you, and that you feel comfortable and happy on.
Some people do great on low carb, but plenty of others cannot sustain a life like that and end up regaining all the weight and more, or end up too drained to carry out their everyday activities.
I do not do low carb, and never have. I am 126Ibs at 5'10.
As long as you have balance, are getting the nutrients your body needs ( include lots of vegetables and some fruit in your diet), and stick to healthy sources of carbs for the most part (sweet potatoes, wholegrains, vegetables, fruits), there is no reason for you to need to go low carb.
You need to sit and ask yourself, if eating so little carbs is something you can do for life, ie, no more sweet treats, no more pasta, rice, potatoes, bread etc.0
