I am 23 and slightly overweight. The doctor told me last week I needed to consider losing 10lbs, but my goal is 20. I currently weigh 146 and would even be happy at 130. I am young and I feel like I should be in the best shape of my life and not to mention this was the very first time anyone had ever called me overweight. I read about what I can do to lose weight and eat healthy and I can do all of this, my struggle is time! I work full time plus go to college full time and if I ever have 20 min free time I'd rather lay on the couch and catch the news. I know this is just making excuses and that I could find 30 min a day to exercise but it's difficult finding the motivation after my long days.
What has everyone else done to get them motivated?

How about you watch the news while on the treadmill? or doing jumping jacks, squats, pushups, etc? Guaranteed to give you more energy than laying on the couch. I usually dread my workouts, but once i am started, it gets better and the energy and good feeling afterward is worth every minute !0

Exercise while you lay on the couch and watch the news. You can do crunches during commercial breaks, leg lifts on your side during programming. Jumping jacks, stepping.... etc. All of these can be done easily.
GET UP EARLIER AND GO OUTSIDE FOR A RUN OR JOIN A GYM. Getting up an hour earlier to squeeze in some exercise is better than nothing. Really, you'll feel so much better after each and every workout knowing that you didn't make excuses that morning.0 -
Hi there and welcome to MyFitnessPal (MFP), you are in the right place. I'm 46, 5ft 7.5 and started here at 163 pounds and I'm not 156.5. The people here are great and very supportive. I try and give other people support as it gives me a boost too. The best thing to do is to log what you eat every day and try and get a little exercise. Start with something simple, a walk around the block where you live, it doesn't have to be a lot to begin with but you will find after a while you have more energy. I hope that helps. I'm no angel and have really bad days too but feel free to add me as a friend if you like!
Best wishes0 -
Hi and welcome to MFP! There are a lot of ways you can get in a quick amount of exercise. Park farther out in the parking lots and walk quickly to your car, take the stairs, do some exercises while you watch TV etc. I found that the more I log into MFP and track my food and exercise, the more motivated I became.0
