Corn

Alright guys... it's the infamous food.
What are your thoughts?
I've steered clear because of the carb count, but then I also know fiber is pretty good (and, uh... digestibility is... visible). I've come into some corn, and I don't want to waste it, but I'm also, well, nervous about using it!

nothing wrong with whole kernel corn.
Like wheat, it's a good food that gets bastardized in a hurry due to processing...0 -
I don't eat it for health reasons... BUT I'm also not telling people not to eat. I'm okay with it.0

i try not to eat anything with corn in it----which is basically impossible.
i figured that if corn is what we're fattening up the livestock with,
i kind of don't want it
lol
but i'm not deterring other people from eating it.
this website has a list of all the ingredients that are corn in disguise: http://www.livecornfree.com/2010/04/ingredients-derived-from-corn-what-to.html0 -
I don't think it will make much of a difference to your diet if you eat it once in a while. I ate some on my salad tonight. I don't eat it everyday or even every week, but sometimes it just nice to add a bit for the sweetness and texture that it adds0

I use whole kernel corn straight off the cob in several of my recipes, my boyfriend loves it. In that form it's great for you, full of fiber and nutrients. I avoid canned corn because of the sodium.

It's not corn. It's dead hookers. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert_Pickton
I love corn. No problem eating it, but I miss slathering it with butter.0 -
I don't suggest corn on the cob for every meal daily.
But I like corn & have it ocassionally.
I try to limit the HighFructose Corn Syrup stuff, though.0 -
I LOVE corn! In fact, the area I'm from is famous for its sweet corn...
I don't see any reason why you shouldn't have it in moderation... like everything else you like to eat0 -
Too starchy for me!0

Corn is not good for you. Check this site out. http://www.marksdailyapple.com. It is a grain and the human body was not meant to digest those. All they do is spike your blood sugar and they offer absolutely nothing that your body needs. Protein and Fats you must have to live, carbs are the only macro that is optional and always will be.
You get enough fiber from fruits and vegetables (and again, corn is not a vegetable).0 -
Repeat after me. "I shall not demonize individual foods, food groups, or macronutrients."0

Lol, oh, right, the whole disregarding 100,000 years of homosapiens harvesting
I guess I DID ask for thoughts, though...0 -
My doctor said everything in moderation. I take that to mean that I can have some corn once in a while. I won't eat it like I used to.0

Agreed! Whole kernel corn is delicious. mix it into some corn bread (the kernels of course) before baking and it makes a lovely texture and a dash of sweetness. It's so over-processed in boxed food that it loses it's luster. Regular off the cob corn is lovely.
Some people are legitimately allergic to it, but it's not everyone. :-) Everything in moderation.0
