I have a really bad problem with self control too. I'm also a student. I think the most important things are to prepare and to remember. Prepare your snacks and bring them with you to school so that you're not starving or hitting the vending machines up between classes. And remember what you want and what you've worked for! I printed out some pictures of what I want to look like, the costume I'd wear for halloween if I was skinnier, etc. Just hang on to that motivation! All I have to do is think, yeah, I'd like that brownie, but I'd also like to feel sexy and I'd rather feel hot than eat a brownie that I'll only enjoy for a minute or two. Good luck! If you want to friend me, I'll stay on your case about it :-)0

So, you go to school....do you work as well?
If not, I will be blunt with this....suck it up buttercup. It's a cruel world full of choices. You need to take action on the choices that will being you success. I'm a single father of 2 kids 24/7/365. Im out of the house 10.5 hours a day and make time for mine. You can too. You just have to WANT IT.0 -
Since you are on the go all day long, do you eat regularly or are you binging at the end of the evening? I find that if I don't eat regularly all day long, I'm so hungry at night that I lose control and eat everything in sight.0

You just have to plan your meals ahead of time.0 -

Agreed! I used to pack my lunches for school! I used a black purse like lunch box- looked like a purse! It helped a lot!0 -
My advise is this, because your schedule sounds hectic... concentrate on one thing or the other. It takes time and energy to do both so you may feel overwhelmed. If you think that you should concentrate on food, then be more committed to your diet. If you are feeling more guilty about the exercise, then focus on that. Eventually, both will join you. But here's my opinion....
Your schedule is LOADED so you will need to schedule time to work-out. I realize your energy level is low, but energy generates more energy and inactivity generates more inactivity.
I have to make time in the morning 3 times a week to work on strength. That way I still get to sleep in 2 of the weekdays. And I am blessed where there is a gym on campus at work, so during my lunch hour I go to the gym and run on the treadmill or get on the elliptical for 30 minutes. Find time and place and schedule a workout... a date with Self.
My diet can use a BIG improvement, so I know what you're talking about. Just think that if you workout, you will maintain your weight loss more easily. It is also likely that you will want to eat to fuel your workouts instead of your cravings.
All the best to you!0 -

an I do plan everything. I bring my own snacks an meals to school. I add all my foods to my diary the day before a lot. I plan to excersize a lot. but another thing is I have low energy,ALOT. it's not just being tired, I'm borderline anemic. that's what I don't plan for.0 -
Something I read on the MFP message boards that has always stuck with me... "You can have excuses or you can have results."
I understand the challenge and the frustration, I experience it every week. But with the lows, there are also highs and nothing feels better or is more rewarding than putting down the fork and popping in a workout DVD instead, even if it's midnight. You can do it!0 -
I'm anemic too, either take iron supplements or foods high in iron (spinach, read meat) to help balance it out.
Get your iron levels in check before worrying about exercise. Accomplish a working routine for food, meals, supplements or whatever you need, then you'll have more energy.0 -

thanks for this! I'm hoping il adjust to my schedule quickly...maybe I am just overwhelmed. but I do try to plan food for my excersize, but then I can't stop eating. and then I get waaay to full to even move...0 -
Also, low energy can be caused by vitamin D deficiency, take your vitamins!0

I hear you, I'm a student, working and volunteering. It gets busy! I make time every night to prepare lunch and snacks (well, most of the time I do). It helps a lot, especially when you're rushed in the morning.0

Try not to have so many excuses. Try to deal with what you can, like the iron deficiency, so that it is no longer an excuse. Deal with it, and then it's one less thing. Even a walk is a great improvement, and if nothing else, it will help you clear your mind, cause your post reads a little stressed and hopeless. Do what you can in the time you have on weekends too, and listen to the other recommendations posted, cause they are really great as well.0
