Hi,
Im new to this, 11 years ago I used to be in the army and had a great body, since leaving my body has slipped and complacency has kicked in.
So I have decided to get my body back in shape and lose some weight.
After inputting my details on MFP, my target calorie intake for the day is 1380, which I have done for the first week and lost 4lb with some light exercise.
However I have decided to do the insanity workout, but am now confused as to whether I need to be taking in more calories???
Or if I just keep on doing what I am doing with light exercise and 1380 calories, until I lose the weight I want to and then start insanity??
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
Mike

Hi Mike I am very new to this myself. 1380kcals seems low for a man anyway especially when you exercise. I would definitely think by increasing your exercise you can eat more!
Wish I could help you more but don't want to tell you to do something if its wrong.
Well done for losing 4lb already!
Good Luck

Hey Mike.
I am in the military and due to the last few months of recovery from a motorcycle accident and a family member passing it was hard to get motivated. I am getting back into my Marine Corps shape. I eat about 1500 cals per day. I snack through out the entire day as well.
i do not really count calories but what i care about is what is in those calories. I eat alot of protein and fiber. I love Insanity! Keep going and set reasonable short term goals that will assist you in your long term goal. Ihave that support there too. My wife is amazing support: she got me back on my feet, kicked my butt and got me back on track. Good luck man!0 -
A great source of information when you are just starting out is www..fat2fitradio.com. There are several different calculators and great podcasts to learn more. 1380 cal is really low for a man. You will lose muscle mass. I've done Insanity and I love it! Also there is a great guidelines post for beginners put out by another user, helloitsdan??, you could search the forums for it. Good luck!0
